The Goodies Company March 2013 Review

IMG_1231

I finally received my first Goodies Company box!!! And I could not be more pleased!! For just $7/month, they send you 5-8 “delicious new foods, hand picked and delivered right to your doorstep!” Goodies Co. is a Wal-Mart brand, so that’s how I figured they could keep the price of the monthly boxes so incredibly low (compared to many of the other food subscription boxes, this one is SO CHEAP!). I wasn’t sure (with such a low price) how great of quality the products were going to be, and if they were gonna skimp on size and quantity….I was oh so excited to find out that they certainly don’t! I got 8 great products to try, and they all look fantastic!

IMG_1230

The box was ginormous compared to all the other monthly boxes I get. It was also quite heavy, which made me even more excited to find out what all the products would be inside! On the first look when I opened, this is what I saw:

IMG_1232

Apparently each month there is a theme to the box, this month for March was “Rise & Shine”, filled with goodies to make for breckie.

IMG_1233

After reading the little letter, I opened the box to see all my goodies on the inside!!!!!

IMG_1236 IMG_1239

…. only to find my 2 kittys Charles and Aria jumping all around in the wrapping, trying to get to the goodies before me! I finally got them away, and got to discover my 8 new fun products to try!!! Here we go:

Item #1 • Alo Water
Comfort Watermelon + Peach, Price: $11.94 for pack of 6
This enhanced water drink is made with real aloe vera pulp and juice. The whole bottle is 140 calories, but none of the ingredients seem crazy or terrible for you. I’m very interested to see what this will taste like, but it’s best served chilled, so I have this puppy waiting in my fridge for the next time I need a nice refreshing watermelon and peach flavored drink! Very interesting to me is the aloe vera that is one of the main ingredients…. that always mends my burns, and now it can add vitamins and minerals to my drinks! How fun! {Check it out here}

IMG_1245

Item #2 • Ola!
100% Natural Hand-baked Granola – Vanilla Almond, Price: $15.99 for 16 oz gift jar
I actually already received the same product (and flavor!) in my Love With Food box this month. It would have been nice if I could have got the “No Nut Vanilla” flavor this time to change it up, but oh well, more vanilla almond granola for me! {Check it out here}

Granola - Ola! Goods

Granola – Ola! Goods

Item #3 • Rickland Orchards
Greek Yogurt Coated Granola Bar – Cranberry Almond, Price: $1.79
This looks superrrrrr yummy although I couldn’t help but want any of the other flavors they make! I love cranberry, but I really don’t enjoy almonds (or any kinds of nuts) in my food if I can help it… They have other flavors like Apple + Honey or Blueberry + Acai that I would have LOVED over this flavor…. oh well, I will still give it a try and I’m sure I’ll like it! {Check it out here}

IMG_1242

Item #4 • BelVita
Cinnamon Brown Sugar Breakfast Biscuits, Price: $3.99 for pack of 5
These are described on the package as “nutritious sustained energy”, and the little description on the Goodies notecard says they taste like dessert — but for breckie! I’m excited to try these, and all 4 biscuits are one serving size, coming in at 230 calories, so I would hope these would be quite filling! {Check it out here}

IMG_1241

Item #5 • Bonne Maman
Strawberry Preserves, Price: $4.99 for 13 oz jar
First off, this little 1 oz sample jar is SO ADORABLE!!! Second off, IT IS SOOOO DELICIOUS!!! I am so happy I got strawberry because that’s my favorite flavor of jam/jelly, and this is just so sweet and yummy!! So happy I got this in my box! {Check it out here}

IMG_1249 IMG_1250

Item #6 • Erin Baker’s
Breakfast Cookie minis – Oatmeal Raisin, Price: $15.60, 12 cookies, 3 oz each
This is just a mini sample size of the cookie, only 1 oz, but it’s super soft and looks so delicious!! Another great item I can’t wait to try for breckie, because, well, it’s a cookie!! Yayyy!! {Check it out here}

IMG_1248

Item #7 • Jovan’s
All Natural Instant Breakfast – Rich Cocoa, Price: $7.99 for 5 pouches
This looks so yummy! 14 grams of protein I get to mix with my milk in the morning, AND it tastes like chocolate?? Yes please :] {Check it out here}

IMG_1247

Item #8 • Nabisco
Newtons 100% Whole Grain – Triple Berry, Price: $4.49 for pack of 6
When I was little my dad always bought Fig Newtons… I don’t know if I appreciated them enough back then. I always liked them, but now I think they are OH SO DELICIOUS! So happy to get re-introduced to these delicious cookies I can eat for breakfast. {Check it out here}
IMG_1246
I am SO HAPPY with the Goodies Company subscription service! It was seriously amazing, from the adorable printed and wrapped box, to all 8 of the excellent items!
IMG_1240 IMG_1251
I’m seriously already getting excited for April’s taster box!!!!!!!!! Woo hoooooo!!!

R.I.P. Sims

Sadly, today we had to put down our kitty Sims. He was the big brother to Charles and little kitten sister Aria. He loved to play and snuggle with Aria, mess around with Charles, eat tons of meat, drink lots of milk, and most of all, he LOVED to be around people. Whatever room in the house we were in, he just always HAD to be around us. He was so loving and caring. We miss you already so much Simmybutt. We love you.

IMG_3661 IMG_0846 IMG_0032 IMG_0311 IMG_3492 IMG_4311 IMG_3505 IMG_3539 IMG_3577 IMG_3490 IMG_3807 IMG_3823 IMG_3981 IMG_3820 IMG_3710 IMG_3515 IMG_4019 IMG_4101 IMG_4057 Untitled IMG_4351 IMG_0615 IMG_0746

He was sick and in pain, and meow he’s in a better place. Kitty and doggy heaven. I’m sure it’s the most adorable place in heaven. And King Sims will keep spreading his love.

Glossybox March 2013 Review

IMG_1187

I LOVE when I see my Glossybox waiting for me on my doorstep!!!! It’s one of my favorite boxes I get, PLUS this month it actually came early! I usually don’t receive the boxes until at least a week into the following month, so getting this one still in the month of March was such a nice surprise!! NOT TO MENTION THE AMAZING VALUE OF THE PRODUCTS INSIDE!!!!

IMG_1190

This month was titled “Spring Fling”, I absolutely love everything in it!!! The products were worth well over $90, and the box itself only costs $21/month. Which is completely fantastic and makes me smile! (It’s the little things in life…. 😉

Let’s get to goodies inside this month’s box!

IMG_1192

I love the card that Glossybox always includes with their boxes. It gives a great description of each product, the price of the full sized product on their website, and also a nice little letter on why they chose the theme/products included in this month’s box. Let’s get started!

Item #1 • Elite Models
Intensity Eye Pencil, full size, $14.00
I received this pencil in #02 Secret Grey, and although the tip of the pencil looked to me like it would be a very dark grey/almost blackish color pencil, when I tested it, it was superrrr shimmery, full of sparkles. I use eyeliner almost everyday, it’s one my staple beauty items, so I know this will get some great use! It’s also super smooth and easy to use. {Check it out here}

IMG_1201 IMG_1200

Item #2 • Koh Gen Do Cosmetics
Oriental Plants Emollient Cream, 0.28 oz, Full size: 1.06 oz, $123.00
This is suuuuch an expensive cream! The full size is a little over an ounce and costs over $100! That’s crazy to me! But this is also why I love getting boxes like Glossybox. This is a cream that I would neverrr normally buy for myself, so it’s awesome that I can try a little bit of the luxury for such a small price. Getting introduced to these kinds of products is so fun and makes me feel fancy! It doesn’t really have a scent, and it definitely is an amazing cream. It made my skin sooo super soft and silky, but not greasy of course. Love it! {Check it out here}

IMG_1199

Item #3 • Modelco
Cheek + Lip Tint, full size, $24.00
Alright so this product ALONE pays for the entire box (actually, so did the sample sized cream, but anyway), so I knew it had to be pretty awesome. And it is! It’s not a super dark tint, it’s very easy to blend and isn’t actually as obnoxiously bright pink as the box and bottle are (colors that I love by the way!). It’s perfect for me. {Check it out here}

IMG_1193 IMG_1194

Item #4 • Prestiche
Essential Oil Bar Soap, full size, $17.99
Another item I would never normally have it wasn’t for these boxes! Me and the bf usually just use Old Spice or Axe body gel, so getting a fun, fancy, girly soap makes me so happy! I got the Rosechella scent, and it smells super fabulous!! ALSO INCLUDED: a $40 gift card for Prestiche! This means I can buy 2 more bars of soap… at no extra cost to me!!! How awesome! {Check it out here}

IMG_1196 IMG_1197

Item #5 • Sebastian Professional
Shaper Fierce Ultra Firm Finishing Hairspray, 1.5 oz, Full size: 10.06 oz, $18.99
Ok so I have this thing where I’m always nervous to try new hairsprays because I hate when I wake up the next morning and my hair is a hot sticky gross mess because of bad hairspray. I used to use Big Sexy Hair before I realized that it was the reason my hair was all nasty and ratty and sticky and gross. The only time I really use hairspray is if I like the way I actually styled my hair (which is not too often!! haha), so I’m scared that I might ruin my style with a bad product. I did read great things about this spray though, so I am willing to give it a try! {Check it out here}

IMG_1198

This box was fantastic! Definitely well worth the money, and the products will all be put to great use by me! :]

Julep Boho Glam Starter Box Review

IMG_1166

As I mentioned in a post before, I had a coupon code to use for the Julep monthly nail polish subscription service, making this $19.99 priced box only cost $0.01!!!! I was sooo excited, and it also arrived on my doorstep super quick, which is always a plus!

IMG_1167

IMG_1168

Here’s what I got in my Boho Glam Starter Box!!! (basically FOR FREE!!)

IMG_1173

Julep Instant Warming Foot Scrub. I walk around all the time barefoot, inside AND outside, so sometimes I have a problem with rough, dry skin on the bottoms of my feet. This is a perfect product for me!!!! :] It’s also a pretty nice sized tube of product!

IMG_1174

They also threw in this little Hand Scrub sample, it’s nice, but kind of stinks because it’s so tiny and if I like it I won’t have any more. haha

IMG_1183IMG_1184

I LOVE the polish colors that I received in my box! Robin is a super pretty turquoise/blue, SO ME, and Stefani is a nice sparkly dark grey! Super cute!

Since this box was FREE to me, it makes it all that much better. I’m not going to continue on with my subscription, I just wanted to get a nice initial free box, but from other reviews I’ve read on the service, other girls seem to love it!! The coupon code I used was: JULEPVIP.

Just Because They Make Me Smile

So it’s officially been just over a month since I quit my job. At first, it wasn’t too bad. I was getting organizing projects done around the house, cleaned out my closet and shoe collection, and thought long and hard every day about what I really want out of a career. Now, a month later, I am about to lose my mind. Every morning I wake up and sit at the computer for at least 4 hours prospecting job leads and filling out application after application. The session usually ends with my head hurting and me wanting to be far, far away from a computer screen. I have never been without a job since I was 15 years old, and it’s really starting to drive me insane. This week I am trying to think positive thoughts and good vibes, in hopes of getting more interviews!

ANYWAY, these silly gif’s make me smile and laugh because they are of some of my favorite shows and I need all the happiness I can get!! :]

ron7 ron2 ron1 ron4 ron5 ron6

Ron Swanson, how I love thee. ❤

Thank you Daniel, for making a valid point.

Can never get enough Michael Scott. We watch AT LEAST 2 episodes of The Office a day. My Michael got me addicted.

oc1 oc2
oc3 oc4

The OC is probably my all-time favorite show ever. I can’t help it. I will never un-love it, in fact, I think it will be the next show I re-watch (for honestly probably the 15th time) right after I finish watching Sex & the City for the 5th time (yes, I love my TV shows, so what of it?)

hjamly1

My main man Hjalmy!!! This wasn’t a recent game, but his smile makes me so happy!! hahah :]

In hopes that this week will be bring me some good luck…….

Some Fantastical Things

8 things that got me excited lately (whether for the good or bad!)

(1) We took a little trip to Davenport this weekend, back to St. Ambrose, because Michael had a volleyball tourney he was playing in…. I tagged along because I love to watch him play…. BUT I ALSO LOVE AZTECA MY FAVORITE MEXICAN PLACE EVER!

IMG_1125

my favorite dish: spinach quesadilla!! even if it wasn't Lent, it's still my go-to dinner there!

(2) I love watching Michael play volleyball because it makes him so happy and I also think he’s really good :] One day, (when I finally get another job) I can save up enough money to buy myself a pretty nice new camera so that my action shot pictures won’t look as crappy as these…. Oh well, they still make me smile.

Untitled1 Untitled2

(3) I just joined a new subscription box service, Julep. They are a monthly nail polish box, BUT THE ONLY REASON I did it was because I found a free coupon code for new members, making your first box only cost $.01! That’s right, only 1 cent for a $19.99 box! The code is: JULEPVIP. I already wrote myself a note to go ahead and cancel it next month so they don’t charge my card. It looks like a very nice service, it’s just not one I would spend that much money on. But for almost free, why not!? I took the style quiz and they paired me with their “Boho Glam” look. They were actually spot on! Here is what I’ll be looking forward to in my box!

Screen Shot 2013-03-24 at 8.59.23 PM

(4) I made a terrible mistake. A disgustingly terribly gross nasty horrendous mistake. I was so excited when I found this box of mac and cheese at Target a while back, because I LOVE buffalo flavored anything…. little did I know that in tiny writing under “Buffalo” it said with Blue Cheese sauce. EW. I had been putting it to the side, always scared to try it because I loathe the nasty fart flavor of blue cheese in my mouth. I thought what the heck, I should just try it because maybe it isn’t as strong as I thought it would be. BOY WAS I WRONG. I took a couple of bites and my stomach was in knots, wondering what was this garbage that I just ingested. I DON’T KNOW HOW PEOPLE EAT THIS STUFF. Ewwwww.

IMG_1076

(5) I finally tried my first clay mask. I had no idea what I was doing, but I had an interview the next morning so I figured I could make my skin healthy and smooth the night before. It was fun feeling like a kid spreading legit clay all over my face, but I guess I was just dumb and didn’t realize that it hardens (and so quickly). I kinda got scared, but kept it on for the allotted amount and time… and OMG DID I LOVE IT! It made my skin as soft as a baby’s, and I will definitely be making this a weekly ritual! :]

Untitled

(6) I have a little obsession with the Eat This, Not That! series of books. Here are a couple of the ones I have, not pictured is the cook book one and the diet book, and I can’t wait to buy the 2013 one!! (This whole not having a job thing is REALLY cramping my shopping style!) If you haven’t ever bought a copy of these books, you’re really missing out! The food pictures are great and it’s super informative and inspiring! And fun! You can find them on half.com for only $0.75!!! What a steal!

IMG_1068

(7) My little guilty pleasure: frozen dinner meals. I love the “healthier” options too, ones that are acceptable in a public place like work, BUT there is something about the perfection of 5 chicken nuggets, corn, and mac and cheese that makes me SO HAPPY. And when they’re on sale for $0.88 I just can’t pass them up!

IMG_1104

(8) HOW PRECIOUS ARE MY ADORABLE KITTAAAYYSSSS???!!! Aria is getting soooo big!!

The Best Garlic Bread You Will Ever Make

This garlic bread is amazing. It tastes exactly like Cheesy Texas Toast. I am oh so proud of myself for whipping this stuff up.

I don’t have exact measurements for anything because honestly, it probably doesn’t really matter. It’s just up to you how cheesy/buttery/garlicy you want it to be. For the sake of this post, I will just show exactly how I made it, and I promise you, it is completely delicious. I seriously don’t ever feel like I need to buy Texas Toast again. We eat pasta A LOT around here, and always have Texas Toast or french bread and oil on the side (yup, we’re THAT healthy), but now I am so happy that we can save money and make garlic bread with stuff we always have in the house already!

First I’ll start with what is needed:

IMG_1077Butter, Garlic Salt, & Squeeze Minced Garlic.
Of course if you have fresh garlic that would work too, but I’m lazy and love this squeeze stuff.

IMG_1078my favorite thing ever of course, Olive Oil.

IMG_1079We love cheesy garlic bread, so I used Shredded Mozzarella & Parmesan Cheese.

IMG_1080Of course we need the bread, I just used an italian bread roll.

Now how I made the goodness!

IMG_1081Chop up the pieces as thick as you like them (mine were like 3/4 inch)

IMG_1082Butter those bad boys up!!! The trick I found that made this garlic bread taste better than my other ones I’ve made/had before is that I buttered BOTH sides of the bread. I don’t know if this is common knowledge already and I’m just super late to the game, buuuuut that is what I think makes it super delicious!

IMG_1083

IMG_1086Then I squeeze some of the garlic in a little bowl, and add extra olive oil.

IMG_1087Mix it up real good and make sure you have a little spoon (this one here is a baby’s spoon), so that it is easy to add/spread a little of the mixture to each piece of bread.

IMG_1088I made sure there were very little chunks of the minced garlic in each little spoonful….

IMG_1089and then go ahead and spread lightly over the butter (only on one side of course).

IMG_1090I only put a TINY amount of the parmesan cheese on top, because I can’t handle too much of it, but if you like it, go crazy!

IMG_1093
Then add the mozzarella cheese, and top it all over with a couple sprinkles of the garlic salt!

IMG_1095

Pop it in the oven for 5 minutes at 350 degrees, and boom, you’ve got the most yummy garlic bread you’ve ever made!!!

Nom nom nom!!!! Sooooooo gooooooood :] Hope you enjoy!

Simple ingredients:
Bread
Butter
Minced garlic (squeezed or fresh)
Olive Oil
Cheeses (Mozzarella & Parmesan)

Bake for 5 minutes @ 350 degrees.

all love & smiles :]

KLUTCHclub March 2013 Review

IMG_1029

This month’s KLUTCHclub box was pretty great, and of course this happens the month that I cancel my subscription. It is one of the pricer boxes I get at $17/month, but the first two boxes I received (January and February) weren’t worth the money (to me I mean). They boast “$50 of the best healthy snacks, supplements, fitness programs, personal-care products, and more”, and although most of the products I received were pretty cool, some of the “programs” that are “worth” the most money were just pointless to me. It was like I was getting maybe the $17 back for the products, and then they send gift cards for random stuff I wouldn’t use for $20 or $30 some dollars. THIS MONTH HOWEVER, the 2 programs they give gift cards to are pretty cool and I love most all the other stuff too!

Let’s get to the box!!!

IMG_1030

Nice big booklet of information about the products included

Nice big booklet of information about the products included

Retail value: $3.69, 4.4 oz

IMG_1033

Item #2) Lumosity.com 1 month giftcard
Retail value: $14.95 for the month
I thought this was kind of silly. I’ve seen commercials for the company, about how it helps you “train your brain”, and always thought “Who the heck would pay money for this?!” BUUUUUUT now that I have a free month of it, I checked out the website and it looks kinda cool! I won’t be renewing it and paying for it next month, but I think it’ll be fun. It says that after just 10 hours of working on stuff, you can see improvements in the areas that you needed the most help on (for me, that will be memory).

IMG_1043

Item #3) Lacote USA Guam Beauty Mud Cellulite Treatment
Retail value: $69.00, 17.64 oz.

IMG_1040

Item #4) Cocoa Via, Daily Cocoa Extract Supplement
Unsweetened Dark Chocolate, 1o packets
Retail value: $39.95 for 30 count box

IMG_1037

Item #5) Aligned Signs.com $30 Gift, 1 month worths
I had no idea what this was and it looked super weird… but then I checked out the website and it was completely fantastic! It looks pretty cool, it’s sopposed to help you get to know yourself better and stuff… It just seems pretty interesting :]

IMG_1044

Item #6) Juice Beauty, Hydrating Mist
Retail value: $22.00, 6.75 oz.
I already got this in my ipsy Glambag this month, making me think that this product was being given away for free like crazy.

IMG_0880

Item #7) Green & Black’s Organic Dark Chocolate
Dark 70%, 1.2 oz
Retail value: $35.84, pack of 10

IMG_1042

Item #8) Corazonas Blueberry Oatmeal Squares
Retail value: $13.99 for 12 pack
SO YUMMY!

IMG_1038

Item #9) Crystal Body Deodorant Stick
Retail value: $2.99 for the travel size
This looks pretty awesome. It has no scent, you just splash a little water on and then use it to block odor. The only ingredients are natural mineral salts.

IMG_1039

Item #10) Davidson’s Organic Tea
Tropical Green, Sun Moon & Stars, Red Green & White
Retail value: $2.95 for a box of 8

IMG_1041

I think I got my money’s worth for this box, and I’m really happy about it! I know I cancelled my subscription, but that’s only because I’m currently unemployed and need to cut back on some stuff…. maybe in a couple months I’ll try them out again! These 3 months were pretty fun with them tho! :]

{Kacey Musgraves} New Music Tuesday

IMG_1028

Soooo I still buy albums, I love having the physical CD in my hand and listening to the CD, reading the lyrics, looking through the booklets…. I have never gotten sick of it since my music obsession started when I was just a little girl buying Spice Girls tapes. Anyway, THIS ALBUM IS SO FANTASTIC!!!! (I might be watching a little too much Parks & Rec, Chris Tregar is rubbing off on me!)

I had been reading great things about miss 24 year old Kacey Musgraves and her album “Same Trailer Different Park”. It most certainly lived up the hype!! She writes clever songs that made me smile and relate to them completely.

Scan

She is uuber talented, gorgeous, and one of my favorite new country artists.

Scan 1

I just sat and listened to the album in it’s entirety, and I really enjoyed all the songs, but my favorites have to be…

• Follow Your Arrow
• Step Off
• Stupid
• Merry Go ‘Round
• Blowin’ Smoke
• My House

I realize I just mentioned 6 songs and there are only 12 total on the album, but I couldn’t just pick a top 3 favorite. The other 6 are amazing too, it was hard just choosing 6 of them!!

I get super excited when I discover a new artist I love, so I just had to share! Everyone just go on iTunes and at least give her a try, her single “Blowin’ Smoke” is the Free Single of the Week, so what’s there to lose?!

Music video for “Merry Go ‘Round”, her first single that was released over 6 months ago.

 4) Pure Living Paradise Tea?
Vanilla Chaga TGRT Raw
I’m thoroughly confused about this product/brand. First off, the loose tea was all over my box because all it came in was this folded paper towel. It gives no real information except it says you can consume it or bathe in it….? I checked out their website, here, and it’s just as weird as the product itself. I’ll probably steep it to make tea and see what happens and what it tastes like, although I’m kind of scared. I’m probably just being dumb because I’m not a big tea drinker but this is really strange to me…..

Love it!!
