Allure Beauty Box Summer Essentials 2013 Review

I was SO EXCITED to receive my Summer Beauty Box by Allure today! I didn’t look at the list of the items included previously because I wanted it to be a surprise… and it sure was! I am seriously so excited about each and every full sized item… I only got one duplicate (a double nail color) but it can easily be gifted because it’s a beautiful shade! This was probably my favorite box I’ve ever opened and I’m so mad that I waited until just now to learn about it… I will for sure be getting the next box when it comes out in the Winter!

This box costed $4o and is full of 26 full sized beauty products! After adding up all the products included, I came to a grand total of $291.25! And I love each and every item! So it’s basically like I walked into a store like Ulta, filled up shopping bag after shopping bag of amazing goodies, and then instead of paying my total of $291, I just hand over two 20 dollar bills and stroll out of the store. $40 for 26 fun beauty products that I’m already obsessed with……..?? So worth it!

The box was 12 whole pounds and when I opened, everything was wrapped in packing popcorn and bubble wrap, with a nice little booklet included that explains each product and gives a nice description. I will be including those descriptions from the Allure booklet in this review because since there are just SO MANY items, I think it would be easier to explain word for word with just a short review comment.

Now onto all the amazing wonderful full sized goodies I just got for only FORTY FREAKIN DOLLARS!

“Gives you sexy, tousled waves with a matte finish for a real surfer-girl look!”
I LOVEEEE the brand NYM! I use so many of their products and recommend them to everyone. All the products are $5.99 or less (that I’ve ever seen), and they work even better than many of the pricey brands that I have used in the past. I’ve never tried this cream before but I love the beachy waves look so I am very excited to give it a try! Check out the product here.

Glossybox April 2013 Review

My April Glossybox FINALLY came, with only a few days to spare. It was worth the wait though, and I am excited to use all the products inside! Also, I love getting  a fair share of products and this month we got 6 items! I was so happy about that!

Glossybox is a beauty subscription service that sends you 4-7 deluxe sized samples by amazingly nice brands. It costs $21/month, and I’ve ALWAYS gotten at least double the price back by the products inside. Many of the brands I have never heard of before, or maybe a new product that I’ve always been scared to buy and try…. These kinds of things are the reasons why subscription boxes are so fun! You learn about so many amazing new brands!

The boxes always come with a short little hello about the months theme, and inside the card lists the products, descriptions, and values of everything included this month.

Now let’s get to the goodies inside!!! :]

Item #1 • Alterna Haircare
Bamboo Style Boho Waves Tousled Texture Mix (Full size: $22.00, 4.2 oz)
This product is supposed to give a “just got back from the beach” look wavy hair. I am so excited to try this because I am always looking for a perfect spray that does just that! Thanks Glossybox, you always seem to send me what I need! :] Check out the product here.

Item #2 • Bvlgari
Eau Parfumèe au thè Blanc Tea Bag for Bath, price: $9.50/ 1 package
I don’t even usually take baths, however I might have to change this ASAP because it smells like the same amazingly delicious soap also from Bvlgari that Glossybox sent me a few months back. I love the smell so much!!! Will have to try this “bath tea” for sure! Check out the product here on Amazon.

Item #3 • The Honest Company
Honest Organic Lip Balm, price: $3.31
This is a great lip balm, flavored in “Sweet Orange Vanilla”. It smells delicious and works great! Check them out here.

Item #4 • TIGI Cosmetics
Glow Blush, Lovely, price: $22.00
This is a perfectly blendable blush that glows with the perfect amount of pinkness! Check out the product here.

IMG_1698 IMG_1700

Item #5 • Wash With Joe
Coffeemint Invigorating Body Wash, 1.0 oz (Full size: $28.00/ 16 oz.)
This smells fantasticcccc! What a great way to wake up in the morning in the shower! If I didn’t already have so many other soaps around the house from all my beauty subscriptions, I would have been more tempted to purchase this. Smells THAT good. I just don’t spend that much money on soap. Check them out here.

Item #6 • Le Mètier De Beautè
Replenishing Daily Solution, .10 oz (Full size: $225.00, 1.7 0z)
This is a CRAZY expensive cream! These are the kind of items I LOVE receiving boxes like Glossybox because this is a cream that I would NEVER have ever tried before… if it wasn’t for my Glossybox! I’ll get one use of some super fancy cream! They also gave Glossybox members a discount to knock $75 off the total price, making the full sized product “only” cost $150.00. The code is: GlossyBox. Check out the product here.

IMG_1696 IMG_1695

This box wasn’t my FAVORITE, but I definitely love everything in it and will be able to put it all to good use! LOVE MY GLOSSYBOX! Always, ALWAYS worth the price. The $22 full sized blush in this box paid for the box itself! :] If you like Glossybox, you should give it a try! Click here to sign up! That’s my referral link.

Happy Memories: Disney {Part II}

Yayyy I’m almost done going through all my Disney pictures from last summer! My first post on the Florida trip is here, so now onto the second installment of my wonderful memories and pictures!!! hahah :]

We had SO MUCH FUN in the Animal Kingdom. Both of us are crazy for animals as it is, plus many of our all time favorite movies are with animals too (Lion King, Bug’s Life, Finding Nemo, etc.)! We went on most of the rides/attractions and had a fantastic “safari pizza” lunch… super delicious, and of course the entire day was super fun! We got really tired from the heat and walking around the park, but thankfully we always went right when the park opened, so by the time it got super hot in the middle of the day, we were all ready to head back to the hotel and enjoy the pool and drinks! ;]

anm1 DSCN0249 safari DSCN0243 anm2

Afterwords, back to the pool for plenty of free cocktails (we had those resort food/drink vouchers) and a great time going down the water slides and swimming around with my new underwater camera! Then that night we went back to Downtown Disney to stroll around, do some shopping, eat some ice cream, and feed some duckies :]

DSCN0264 water1 rando

Even though all morning long I sit at my computer applying to job after job after job and it gives me a headache if I even have to look at the computer 1 more second longer, when I think about going through happy pictures of mine and being able to edit and pictures and have a little fun posting about them, I can’t help but remain at the computer! It makes me so happy to be able to go through these amazing memories… definitely a great pick me up for my days!!!

Here’s a short glimpse back on my past couple of birthdays… feels like I was “just a kid” yesterday… (I guess I still am…?) haha!

• 2012 •
I don’t actually have any pictures of ME in them, but I did have an excellent sushi dinner with my parents, they gave me some wonderful Amurican gifts, and the boyfriend bought me tickets to see my favorite comedian: Daniel Tosh! We sat suuuuuuuuuuuuper close & it was amazing :] Also, I got a super delicious cookie cake from my girl Jordan!! (See, I really am obsessed with Niklas #4!!!)

• 2009 •
This was my freshmen year at St. Ambrose, and we had suuuuuch a great time. First off, I walked into my room with my roomie’s bf (we had just gone out to get beer haha) and the girls surprised me with an amazing Playboy cookie cake… with trick candles. I blew them all out…. and the fire alarm started going off. hahah I have an awesome video of it but I can’t get it to upload on here, it’s hilarious we’re all just running around trying to bat the smoke away and hide the beer and tell the RA that it was an accident all at one time. Such a cluster. But awesome.
ALSO: I got my tattoo!!!!!!

 • 2008 •
I turned 18!! Yayyy! hahah of course the fam took me to Buffalo Wild Wings (I’m still obsessed with that place to this day). Also, I got an adorable pink pirate bear from my brother to add to my Build A Bear collection (which is probably up to about 15ish now hahah)… how sweet :]

No pictures from my actual birthday, but my bf at the time’s Prom was a couple days later…. I LOVED my big amazing red dress.

Love With Food April 2013 Review

I loved almost everything in my Love With Food box this month! With 8 new things to try this month, I really liked almost everything!! Also, a little side note, these pictures are pretty terrible but ONLY because when I got this box last night it was already almost dark out and I wanted to try some of the treats so so so bad that I had to snap a few pics before I tore through the box. hahaha I guess I really did LOVE this box! :]

Love With Food is a monthly food/snack subscription service that only costs $10/month, plus for every box you get, they donate a meal to a hungry child. I think it’s a pretty cheap price for that, plus all the deliciousness that I get inside! This month was curated by Andrew Zimmern, so I was OH SO EXCITED to see what he chose for this box. Although I was at first a little skeptical how much influence he actually had in the box, after some research on the products, I found he actually DOES “endorse” these products! Look for the short clip from his show on the very first product I reviewed from the box!

Now onto the goodies!!!!! :]

Item #1 • Air Popped Sorghum Grain from Mini Pops
Full size: $2.98
These little guys were super adorable! I love butter a LOT so the fact that they barely had much flavor wasn’t too fun for me, and they are really hard to eat, I guess you are just sopposed to pour them in your mouth out of the bag, but I’m not one to do that…. They were good though, and I’m sure if I tried a different flavor, I would love them even more! Also, watch the short clip below from Andrew on his show about popped sorghum! Check out the product here.

Items 2 & 3 • Original + Sea Salt Cocomel from JJ’s Sweets
Full size: $7.99
Oh Em Gee. I am not usually a caramel person, I never really eat it plain. I wanted to try these, especially the sea salt one, because of the interesting coconut milk that it’s made of. THEY WERE SOOOOO FANTASTIC! I loved both the regular and sea salt (probably the sea salt one a little more) and would definitely go out and buy these yummy candies!!! Check out their website here.

Item #4 • Organic Fennel Pollen from Pollen Ranch
Full size: $15.00
I wish it was almost anyyyyy other herb/spice, but this smells like licorice so I don’t want it anywhere near my food. I’m really not that picky with much else food-wise, just no licorice or bleu cheese please. Check out their website here.

Item #5 • Lemony Lover Olives from Oloves
Full size: $14.99/ 10 pack
Up until this point in my life, I never really preferred olives. I would pick them off my salads, scrap them off my pizza, and accidentally let them fall out of sandwiches. NOT ANYMORE. These were the most amazingly delicious snack I have ever consumed (for only 50 calories!!!!!!) They seem to be all sold out on Amazon, but they do have them for sale on Love With Food’s site here. These were just SO GOOD. The garlicky lemony goodness was almost too much to handle! So gooooood!!! It looks like they have 2 other flavors, Tasty Mediterranean and Hot Chilli Mama. I want to try them all!!! Check out their website here.

Item #6 • Salty Pepper Nuggets from Somersault Snacks
Full size: $3.99
I haven’t tried these little babies yet, but I’m sure they’d be great for a healthy snack! Sunflower seeds and toasted grains just doesn’t sound very appealing to me… or I guess it just didn’t when I had all these other delicious choices to try out! Check them out here.

Item #7 • Creamy Buffalo Ranch Dip from Buff Lo Dip
Full size: $19.99/ (3) 15.0 oz jars
I was SO EXCITED to pull this out of my box! I am obsessed with buffalo ANYTHING and I’m also a ranch lover, so this was perfection. I loved the thicker consistency so it stays put when I dip my veggies in. I know we only got a small sample, but if I had more of this deliciousness, I would spreading all over my chicken, mac n cheese, pizza, anything. It’s seriously delicious! You can check out/buy the dip on Love with Food here. I went onto Buff Lo Dip’s website, and it was awesome to see/read that it was just a guy, in his kitchen, looking to make something buffalo-ranchy and came up with the excellent recipe. What a great find! I am the queen of condiments over here and I am happy to discover a new love! I also love the packaging, it’s different and very eye catching. Check out their website here.

Item #8 • Smoky Chili & Lime Chickpeas from The Good Bean
Full size: $18.98/ 6 bags
I’m really not too fond of the chickpea, but with a flavor like Smoky Chili & Lime, I had to give these a try! They were actually pretty good! I couldn’t eat the whole bag in one sitting, but a couple munches here and there will be good for me. The flavor is delicious and it’s better than me eating a whole bag of chips! haha (This was also a nice big sized bag!!! Full size yay!) Check them out here.

I thought the April tasters box was fantastic! Super delicious and found a few of my new favorite brands/food!!!

all love & smiles :]

This month, 12 new products wooooo hoo!! :]

Check them out here.
Item #10 • Organic Food Bar

I was not very happy with the packaging of this item. Check it out.
Item #11 • Q Speed

That Day We Randomly Decided To Bike 14 Miles

What A Wonderful Day It’s Been…

bike1 IMG_1458

We went on a fabulous 14 mile bike ride down to the beach and around the lake…. such a great workout and had such a great time! (Although now I am so sore I can barely move…. hahaha)

IMG_1444 bike2 IMG_1457

When we got to Navy Pier, we locked our bikes up and walked all the way around the pier…. then, we accidently stopped for lunch at Margaritaville! It was soooo yummy and hit the spot! I got an amazing shrimp, crab, and lobster salad, and Michael went with a good ol’ Cheeseburger in Paradise. We had such a fabulous day :]

IMG_1459 IMG_1453 IMG_1452 IMG_1455 IMG_1456

Michael said this was a special early birthday lunch…. and seeing as though we’re going to the zoo tomorrow for another early birthday funness, this might just be a whole week of awesome for my birthday (on the 18th!!!) Yayyy!

Popsugar Must Have Box – April 2013 Review

I have been reading review after review about all the previous months, and loved every single one! It seems to me that a lot of people get pretty upset about this box when it’s not all to their liking, and I do understand that on some point because the price is a bit high for a monthly subscription box (it’s $35/month). HOWEVER, all the items that people tend to complain about… I usually like! Maybe I’m just a super positive person (at least when it comes to gifts and fun items and surprises), but I honestly liked every single box in the past that I have read reviews about….

Then, I received my first box, the April MustHave box. My first reaction was, “wow, this box feels SUPER light, are there even any products in there??”. I opened to find that there are only 5 products, so that was just a tad disappointing to me because it seems like many of the other months received up to 8 products. After looking through all my products though, I found that I was very happy with the box and love just about everything included!! :]

Anyway, since this is my first box, it’s obviously my first review on this subscription service, so I thought I’d just give a little rundown of the box itself!
• $35/month
• Hand selected items in beauty, fashion, home, fitness, & food
• Full size products and premium items, each box worth at least $100
• If you would like to join, or even just try out a month or 2, you can use my referral link here

The first look of all the products!

Item #1 • Alter Eco
Dark Quinoa Organic Chocolate, $3.99
I’m kind of scared to try this…. a) dark chocolate just isn’t my thing, b) “nutty toasted quinoa” is not exactly what I envision in my chocolate snacks, and c) I’m annoyed I always get dark chocolate “healthy” treats, just gimme some fatty milk/white chocolate with marshmallows and nuget and carmel please. ASIDE FROM ALL THAT, the packaging and brand are great. I actually want to eat/try it only because that kinda stuff is just so appealing to me. I am an advertiser’s dream audience :] Check out their website here.

Perfume Oil, $48.00
O.M.G. I am IN LOVE with this perfume!! It smells sooo luscious and radiant and fabulous! I wish it was a spray, rather than an oil, so I could spray down my bed and clothes and sweatshirts so I could just be in lovely smelling heaven all day… Ok, I know that was a little much, kinda creepy, but I honestly think it smells amazing! I read a lot of reviews of people saying it smelled too floral or too strong, blah blah blah, but it says on the label that it smells different on everyone, so my natural body scents and oils must be made for this perfume oil! I love it!!!!!! Check it out here.

Item #3 • The Green Garmento
4-in-1 Reusable Dry-Cleaning Bag, $9.99
Ok, sooo I know a lot of people were complaining about this product because they don’t dry clean their clothes (well then how do you wash them correctly…?) and they just thought it was unappealing to get a garment bag in this box. I THINK IT’S FANTASTIC!!! For a couple reasons, the first being that this was featured on Shark Tank!!! I freakin LOVE that show and love all the inventors and entrepreneurs putting themselves out there and trying their hardest to sell their products! So inspirational. Second reason I think this is awesome is because it seriously is 4 in one! I’m already using it to do my laundry today, and it’s so perfect for dropping/picking up your clothes from the cleaners. It’s eco-friendly and fantastic :] Check out their website here.

Item #4 • Shashi
New Nugget Bracelet, Grey, $28.00
I adore this bracelet! It’s so simple and pretty and definitely something I would buy (although not for $28 bucks, but I never buy jewelry over $10, I’m cheap like that)! They make them in several different colors, but Popsugar was sending them out in turquoise, cobalt, and grey, and I am SO HAPPY that I got the grey, and not just because it’s my second favorite color (behind blue of course!), but because this way it seems more versatile and will go with more colors/outfits. I love this bracelet :] Check out all the other colors here.

Item #5 • Tatcha
Petal Fresh Evening Aburatorigami Beauty Papers, $15.00
Ok so I bought a pack or 2 of these kinds of papers before back in the day, but I got e.l.f. brand ones that costed like .50 cents or something. $15? Nothing I would pay for, but I guess it’s because I still don’t really understand how/why they’re useful. I would THINK I would need them since it’s getting warmer outside, but my face honestly never really gets oily. Sweat, yes, certainly, I sweat a gross amount for a girl. So if they made papers that turned my super red hot cheeks normal and made my sweat go away while keeping my makeup fresh… well then THOSE would be papers I would pay $15 bucks for. Maybe these papers will come in handy one day though, so I will keep them in my travel makeup bag :] Check them out here.

The grand total: $104.98
They promise the box to be worth at least $100, so they were really cutting it close this month. Kinda stinks that my first box with them had to be one with a lower than usual value and lower than usual item count, but all in all, I really enjoyed it and I am eager to see what they will come up with for the May box!

{Photography note: Obviously I don’t know what I’m doing taking pictures, I just enjoy doing it, sooooo don’t mind the random background with my porch, kitty bowls, and Aria’s little alligator toy hahah}

all love & smiles :]

Happy Memories: Disney {Part I}

Last summer, I tagged along with Michael to his National Championship volleyball tourny. I got to spend 10 days in beautiful Florida, in Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, fo freeee! It was amazing! We also had tons of free food vouchers, so that is why we ate an insane amount of food. It was super amazing and I can’t wait to go back!!! :]
This was the first trip that I took where I didn’t leave the airport at the crack of dawn, so we didn’t arrive in Florida until late at night…. Needless to say, I wasn’t a very happy camper…

BUT THEN, we got on Disney’s Magical Express and all the great fun started!!! I’ll start my happy reminiscing with some of our meals, our Epcot visit, and other fun times :]

I LOVE looking back on amazing trips like this one… Can’t wait to go through the next batch of Disney pics soon! :]
