Goodies for Kids October 2013 Box Review

Goodies for Kids is an excellent box that is always jam packed with goodies and treats that are perfect for snacking and lunches for work. I have always loved this box so much and am so sad to hear that this month will be the last. I think they got rid of everything they had left on hand because this box was seriously full of so much goodness!! Michael even made me take pictures of it quickly because we wanted to tear right into these goodies!

There was certainly an October-Halloweeny theme to this month’s box, and everything just kept looking better than the next! This box is only $7/month, SUCH a low price for a box of treats that always got eaten! Too bad they are no longer producing boxes of this subscription. Still thought I’d do a review to show off how great they were! They recommend to their users to try Love With Food, which of course I already subscribe to but oh well… so long Goodies! (and Goodies For kids!)

Whats inside

1 ~ Warheads Sour Chewy Cubes
Not too sour, but still sweet & good.

2 ~ Pretzel Crisps – Original
I LOVE this lil crisps so these are a perfect little size for lunches since I devour the full bags at home. ; )

3 ~ Rockin ‘ola – ChocoBerry
These are chocolate granola clusters with real freeze-fried strawberry yogurt drops… definetly sounds like an interesting breakfast.

4 ~ Lunchables Jr. – Teddy Bear Picnic
Just ate this with my lunch today.. So good and adorable!

5 ~ Orbit for kids – Strawberry Banana Gum
This little pack is going fast because the bf just loves ’em! This baggie has 10 little micro packs in them, with 6 pieces of gum each! I was so happy to see such a full size item in this box!

6 ~ Sneaky Pete’s All Natural Oat Beverage – Mango
I’m loving mango flavored things lately so this looks perfect!

7 ~ Warheads Sour Twists
These were pretty good, not that sour, but a perfect amount of sweetness and flavor!

8 ~ GudFud Fruit Jelly Stuffed Marshmallows
These look so good and adorable, the packaging is also great.

9~ Nature’s Bakery Whole Wheat Apple Cinnamon Fig Bar
I’ve tried this from another box before and was SO HAPPY to see it again. I ate this thing in like .008 seconds. SOOOO GOOD I LOVE THESE THINGS!

10 ~ Happy Squeeze Fruit & Veggie Twist – Apple, Mango, Pear & Kale
I absolutely LOVE these Happy Squeeze pouches and I thikn this one is my new favorite! They are a bit pricey but they are so so good and healthy and just a perfect snack with lunch.

I’m so sad that this will be my last Goodies for Kids box (this is also the last month for the normal Goodies Co. subscription too)… however, I am glad that they went out with a bang and sent me the best box yet!

all love & smiles,

Good Eats.

Last weekend, while my friend was visiting, we of course had to eat at some amazing places to show off some gems in Chicago. On Friday night when she got in, we went to Connie’s for dinner and it was absolutely delicious. I love the decor of the original Connie’s (which is right in Bridgeport where I live), and it was packed and bustling with people, so it was certainly a great atmosphere. We devoured our bread and oil and cheese, along with our mozz sticks and salad for starters. Michael & Jordan both like sausage and that’s one food (sausage pizza) that I just don’t particularly care for…. therefore, I got myself a wonderful veggie stuffed za with jalapenos, spinach, onions, and mushrooms. It was SO DIVINE! Even re-heated for lunch the next week at work it was STILL absolutely delicious. I loveeee me some Connie’s pizza, and I’m so glad I got to show Jordan a great Chicago style pizza place : )

IMG_3524 IMG_3525 IMG_3526

The restaurant that I planned on taking Jordan to when she came in was Howells & Hood. It is a great sports bar meets fancy meets casual meets amazing atmosphere. There are linen napkins, however there are TV’s playing sports all over the walls… so it’s certainly a great mix, where you can never feel too dressed up or dressed down. The food, the drinks, the service, the atmosphere of this place… I just LOVE IT ALL! We both had some fun drinks, a got a seasonal IPA, “Pumpking”, for appetizers we got these AMAZING bologna sammies and also the best mac & cheese ever. like, ever. It looks so original and awesome and had some little baconish breadcrumbs on there and it was just overall SO CHEESY AND ORIGINAL and MELT IN YOUR MOUTH GOODNESS. We didn’t realize the portions were going to fill us up so fast, but we also got our own main courses; Jordan went with their signature burger and got the lobster roll. SO SO SO SO GOOD. This place is like my #1 recommendation, just LOVE it : )

New Hair.

I FINALLY got my hair done. And did something completely different than the last 5+ years! I’ve been dying my hair with a box red coloring for what seemed like forever, and I’m excited to finally announce that I got my hair done completely different – now it’s a dark, deep red/violet on top, with a strawberry toned blonde underneath… it’s like half 2-tone/ half ombre-ish… totally weird and unique, just like me. ; ) hahaha. Needless to say, I was taking shameless selfies of the hair, and I love it!

Boo at the Zoo – Brookfield Zoo Adventures

Last weekend we took a little trip to the zoo when my friend was in from out of town. We hadn’t been to the zoo in a while (and for me and michael “a while” not being to the zoo is like 4-8 weeks haha) and also it was the first day of Brookfield’s Zoo “Boo at the Zoo”. All the kids that were there were dressed up adorably, we almost felt kind weird for not being in costume. Everything in the zoo was decorated all Halloweeny and it was such a great time!

DSCN1062 DSCN1064 DSCN1059 DSCN1061 DSCN1060 DSCN1065 DSCN1068 DSCN1066 DSCN1070

Now yessss that’s right, we got to see a little kitten snow leopard! He was playing with this momma all adorably just like my kittys play. hahaha it was absolutely amazing to see because I was looking forward to being able to see the cub : ) … oh, and that whole huge group of foxes… they were all dressed up completely different but still kinda creepy to us.. and finally, thanks babe, for taking this lovely picture of me with my eyes closed and not taking another! ; ) haha love ya you impatient picture taker you.

Also, that morning, we finally used our lovely little mini waffle stick maker. It was so much fun making a delicious batch of sticks… we ended up making like, a ton of sticks, but we found that putting them in a baggie in the fridge ends up making them a great little snack for anytime throughout the day, so nothing went to waste. We had a great little breakfast to start off our wonderful day at the zoo!

IMG_3570 the goods

Every month includes a great “travel” pamphlet that lists out all the items in the box, a little information about the destination, and even a sneak preview into the following month’s destination so you can get excited about your next Escape! So far the total value of the boxes have always been much, MUCH higher than what I paid for the box itself, and all the luxury items include bath and body, snacks, drinks, a travel guide book of the destination, and other random goodies. There are always plenty of items, so I never feel like there’s been a bad month. LOVE this subscription!

Whats inside1 • Tub & Scrub Hawaiian Bath Salts
These smell uh-maze-ing. Cute color & simple design too. Me likey. Check out their website here.

2 • Gentle Scrub Facial Buff
This will be good for me considering the only time I wash my face is in the shower and even then I only use my hands to scrub… probably doesn’t do a whole lotta cleanin’ compared to what this puppy will do! I wasn’t sure where to find this online since there is no tag/brand…..

3 • Seashell Lei
This is cute, but I can’t see myself really wearing it, unless it was summertime and I was going to a Hawaiian themed party or something… always good to have some fun costume jewelry though. I also couldn’t find this online because there was no tag/brand…

4 • Dark Chocolate Covered Macadamias by Hawaiian Host
Dark chocolate ain’t my thang… this will be passed on to someone else. They do look delicious, but I would have liked them more if they were milk chocolate though. Check out their website here.

5 • Honey Girl Organics Face & Eye Cream + Night Cream
I came up with the price for this because the Face & Eye Cream I THINK is full sized ($30.99) and then the Night Cream is just a tiny, TINY sample that is just a lil squirt of creme. This is very expensive creme, nothing I would normally purchase, so it’s fun to get to try it out from a box like this. Check out other Honey Girl Organics products here.

6 • Big Island of Hawaii Travel Guide by Moon
I LOVE love lOvE travel guides! I am excited to start a new collection of them if they keep sending out books in all their boxes : ) They are such interesting books to browse through. Check out the book and others on the Moon website here.

7 • Ola Body Butter
I got the scent “Passion Fruit” and it is a verrryy sweet smell. I like it a lot! Body butter is great to put on before bed so I don’t feel all dry throughout these soon to be super cold winter nights! Check out their other products here.

8 • Personal Paradise Coconut Line Body Lotion
This is a small sized 1.25oz sample, but this is some yummy smelling lotion! It smells like vacation!! Check out their other Coconut Lime products here.

9 • Royal Hawaiian Orchards Papaya Lime Macadamia Crunch
This looks like a perfect office snack. Something very different I have never tried before. I also love the packaging! Check out the snacks here.

10 • Alaea Hawaiian Sea Salt
This salt just LOOKS amazing! The little packaging is so cute and just perfect with it’s cork top and nice squared off design. The Artisan Salt Company seems like a pretty fancy brand with salt that costs $15 bucks, but I am excited to add some special new hawaiian salt to our spice collection. Check out the salt here.

11 • Tiesta Tea Maui Mango
Ok, tea isn’t normally my thing, but these brand is amazing. This super strange tea looks fruity and unlike any other I have seen before. It is actually made up of bits of pineapple, mango, orange, and strawberries. Seems so interesting! I can’t wait to try it out at work one day soon! Check out Tiesta Teas here.

12 • Lavendar Foot Bath by Ostara Organics
This wasn’t listed as one of the items in my box, and I’m not exactly sure how much it costs. It does smell super amazing though, the lavender is strong and fresh smelling.

product value
Tea: $6.99
Salt: $14.99
Macadamia Crunch: $4.15
Body Lotion: $2
Body Butter: $10
Travel Guide: $17.99
Eye Creme: $35
Chocolate: $1.10
Seashell Lei: $5.99
Face Scrubber: $7
Bath Salts: $10
TOTAL VALUE: $115.21
That is a GREAT value for this excellent box that I paid only $30 for!!! : )

Phone Case of the Month October 2013 Review

The Box

Phone Case of the Month is an amazing new subscription service that I have been so excited to try! If you’re like me, you find a cute case for your iPhone, get all excited about it, show it off a bit, but then slowly but surely I’m over it and already looking for a new one…. Phone Case of the Month solves this little dilemma!
You receive ONE phone case a month, and only 200 cases of each design are printed, so they are limited edition. All designs are exclusive to Phone Case of the Month and will never be found anywhere else. You can cancel your subscription at any time, no questions asked {this is something GREAT for subscription services as sometimes it can take days/weeks just to get someone to cancel for you!}
Currently, they are only producing cases for the iPhone 4 & 5 {so they would also fit the iPhone 4S as they are the same PHYSICAL size}.

You get one phone case a month for only $10! {this includes FREE shipping!}

the goods IMG_3490{I got 2 cases as I graciously accepted their offer to try and review 2 of their cases, free of charge. Although the month was free for me, these opinions are all my own and all honest.}
Each phone case comes in a nice little pouch, also filled with little treats such as stickers, figurines, and mini notepads. These were a cute little touch and felt like I was gettin’ a lil’ something extra besides the main phone case. Also, as you will see, each phone case comes with a card that reads a little blurb about the design of the case {since they are all pretty unique and exclusive}.

Whats inside IMG_3491 IMG_3492

The first case I got was “It’s Electric”. As soon as I saw this I couldn’t be more excited because I realized the theme of my cases this month: CHICAGO! And that’s where I’m from of course! It was awesome to see a case with the Orange Line train on there; that’s actually what I ride everyday to get to work!! This is an awesome case and my boyfriend snagged it right away and has been displaying it on his iPhone proudly {I of course shared my cases with him this month because I received two haha}.

The second case is called “Abducted”, and this is the case I have had on my phone since I received my Phone Case of the Month package! It is so unique and adorable…. Aliens coming from outer space to steal our famous delicious Chicago style pizza… it’s so weird and awesome, just like me! haha : ) I have gotten a couple compliments and comments on this awesome case for the past week that I have had it on my phone, and it’s pretty exciting thinking that next month you will get a whole new case with a whole new theme! SUCH a great service, especially if you’re phone obsessed like me. ; )

This subscription is honestly great; 1 quality phone case a month, $10 bucks with no hidden charges or fees, every comes wrapped all cute and nice, and you never have to get bored with your phone case again… simple as that!!!! Follow this link to get yourself signed up for Phone Case of the Month!! 🙂

all love & smiles,

What I’m Wednesdays {Week 3}

What I’m…

Wearing ~ a fabulous kitten tee.
that’s right, it’s a really lil kitten. hahaha this was too cute to pass up and since I had the sweater on all day no one even noticed the kitty (until I completely pointed it out of course! haha)
Eating ~ Some classy Taco Bell for lunch one day when I was famished and polished off 2 chalupas AND a soft taco… hahaha whoooops! Then some fatty McDonald’s for breckie, some delicious eggs I’ve been making, and my brand new CROC POT!!!! I picked it up from Target this past weekend and I am so excited to finally be able to make recipes in a slow cooker! : )
IMG_3386 IMG_3421 IMG_3476 IMG_3460
Excited About ~ the fact that I FINALLY cleaned and organized my closet, and now Phase1 in there is complete… getting dressed in the morning literally takes maybe 2 minutes now instead of before when I spent what it seemed like forever trying to find clothes in a huge mess. The way I lined up my heels on the top shelf makes me smile every time I go in my closet : )

Michael decieded to mount the TV in the living room, along with getting us a couple shelving units. This big black one was only $37 from Target! We also got a white one and we are stocking our DVD’s, CD’s, books, pictures, etc. Just nice to finally have these things! I love the way our place looks now : )

The fact that my kitty Charles spends every morning in the closet roaming around and approving of my outfits….

….. and this is Dexter, the crazy kitty who I keep catching in the toilet!!!

Listening To ~ Eminem’s new single, “Rap God”. I have it on repeat on my walk to/from work. I love me some Eminem!

all love & smiles,

POPSUGAR Must Have Box October 2013 Review

The Box

POPSUGAR Must Have Box. This is one of my favorite boxes that I subscribe to because of all the full-sized products and the range of categories the items fall into. It’s basically like opening a surprise gift to myself! “POPSUGAR’s monthly favorites delivered to your door. Hand selected items in beauty, fashion, home, fitness, and food. Full sized products and premium items.”

IMG_3436 cost

$35/month with free shipping!  The total value of these boxes is basically always over $100 so you definitely get your money’s worth! {UPDATE: The price of the boxes beginning in November will be $39.95. They are encouraging their active members to sign up for a 3, 6, or 12 month plan in order to lock in the $35 price for as long as they can. You can do this by signing up by November 4th}

IMG_3438the goods

The box is always bursting full with amazing full size products, and I honestly love their little fold out notecards on why they picked each product and how it can be put to good use. They do a great job of explaining the items in this packet. The box also comes pretty nicely wrapped with the pink tissue paper and sticker everytime : )

IMG_3437 Whats inside

1 • The Can’t Cook Cook Book: Recipes for the Absolutely Terrified!
This book is absolutely AMAZING! It came at such a perfect time for me when I’m doing some major cleaning and organizing in my house, I’m finally ready to take on some good cooking! I have my kitchen (pretty much) organizing and I’m ready! This book has beautiful step by step photos on every page, alongside the recipes and all the wonderful tips. The night I opened this box, I couldn’t put this book down. It’s just so good and wonderful to read with all the pictures and step by steps! Check out this book and her others here.
IMG_3441 IMG_3442

2 • NYX Cosmetics Liquid Liner & Smokey Shadow Pallet
$6.00 + $7.00
Since I already unsubscribed (for now) to all my beauty subscriptions because I have so many little products and samples of every kind of piece of make-up I can imagine, I wasn’t TOO excited to receive even more make-up in this box. Unless it’s a really awesome brand or something that I’ve been excited about, I really don’t need anymore liquid liner (I basically use the same exact eyeliner every single day for the past 5 years), but this eyeshadow pallet does look pretty nice and I didn’t have most of the colors on the pallet. It helps create a great dramatic (or not too dramatic) smokey eye look. Check out NYX cosmetics here.

IMG_3443 IMG_3448

3 • Gorjana Charity Bali Bead Bracelet
This is a very delicate, adorable pink bracelet. 100% of the proceeds from each bracelet went to a charity, Breast Cancer Connections. I LOVE this bracelet and was SO EXCITED to wear it along side my usual 3 silver bracelets I wear daily… However, this bracelet is TINY. I know my wrists aren’t that big at all, and this barely fits around it, plus it’s hard (at least it was for me) to try and close this bracelet on your own wrist. I honestly really do still love this bracelet though. Check out the bracelet here.

4 • Julep for Popsugar Duo Nail Polish
I received “Freedom”, a polymer top coat, and #3108, “Coco” (it also says “It Girl” it smaller letters so I’m not sure if that’s maybe the collection it is in or completely vice versa). I am so happy I got these colors; ready to paint my nails with it any minute! : ) Check out the Julep site here.

5 • Jane Tran Bobby Pins
These aren’t my favorite item in the box, but they are certainly cute and I go through my fair share of bobby pins throughout the year! These are really cute for a messy do too. Check out other cute bobby pins like these here.

6 • The Wet Brush
This is one of my favorites in the box – or even ever! This is why I love subscription boxes… things that you never knew you would love (or in this case, actually really really need)! My hair tangles SO EASY it is so gross, and now with this I don’t mind when I quickly have to get ready when I get out of the shower when I’m running late for work. My hair is no longer a problem! This brush is amazing and perfect for a girl with long, easily tangled hair like me. Click here to check out the wet brush.

7 • The Crispery Halloween Crispycake
This was SO. DAMN. GOOD. nom nom nom!! Me and the bf both thought this delicious sweet rice cake was absolutely perfect. It was covered in decadent marshmallow and was so soft and chewy with just the right amount of slight crunch. I am honestly probably going to order more of these sometime very soon. I’m looking at some of the other adorable holiday cakes that they make and I am wanting to try this fabulous Christmas one! It’s full of peppermint and that amazing marshmallow! Check out the Halloween crispycake here.
8 • Stich Fix
$20 off my purchase + a waived styling fee
I have been reading GREAT things about Stich Fix! It’s “a personal styling service to get handpicked fashion goodies delivered right to your door”. You basically complete a profile about your style, you then pick a date and they send you 5 clothing & accessory items that are hand-picked just for you. You get 3 days to decide if you want to keep (and buy) the item(s) that you got. If you keep anything, the $20 styling fee is automatically reduced off of one of the items, therefore, I’m pretty sure everyone’s styling fees are waived (well, just as long as they keep anything, and with the $20 they are giving me, I am bound to want to purchase something!)
product value
Cook book: $27.99
Crispycake: $3.95
Wet brush: $14
Bobby pins: $12
Nail polish: $28
Bracelet: $45
Eyeliner: $6
Eyeshadow Pallet: $7
TOTAL VALUE: $143.94
(this isn’t even including the $20 certificate for Stich Fix!!!!)
* This box has SUCH a great value! Remember, I only paid $35 for it! I am SO HAPPY about the October must have box!

all love & smiles,
