Food… Food… & even MORE Food.

So it’s no secret that I’m overly obsessed with food. I seem to talk about it all day, love looking at food photography and reading recipes, I love walking the aisles of the grocery store, and I wish I could try out every single restaurant in America. I just LOVE it. Looking through the pictures on my phone from the past couple of weeks, I’ve had a little more than usual food/meal pictures. I just looked through them all and couldn’t help but say OMG I EAT SO MUCH DAMN FOOD!!!!!!!!! But sometimes, I just don’t care because I love meal times and, let’s face it, I just have no self-control.

Soooo onto the food fest! I just love sharing food experiences and concoctions and just all-around yummy foods!!! {These meals were consumed starting April 21st, so it’s not like these meals are from just this past week or anything! hahah}

• We are ‘dilla LOVERS over here. The George Foreman quesadilla maker most certainly got it’s $20.00 worth of use. We use that thing at least once a week, usually much more. I made a super seasoned up cheese ‘dilla with my favorite salsa in the world (from El Gallo of course).dilla

•Edamame ❤ How I love thee.

 • Strangely large & weird dinner one night: Fish fillets w/ my tarter sauce + ketchup combo, edamame, & apples w/ pepper jack cheese slices. SO GOOD.

IMG_1561

 • One morning (before an interview) I even tried an Instant Breakfast… which turned out to be super delicious and filling!

IMG_1562

• My parents took me to lunch at Horse Thief Hollow, which is an awesome brewery on the south side of Chicago. I got the spinach & goat cheese “burger”, along with a cup of their amazingly delicious chili. There are like huge chunks of delicious meat in there, not just your average ground beef. The place has a super nice vibe to it and I can’t wait to go back and try more of their menu items and test out some of their beers!

IMG_1566

 • Michael & I finally went to the White Palace Grill, a restaurent right near us that Guy Fieri visited on Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives! We were super excited! It ended up being delicious. We shared some mozz sticks, both had delicious chicken soup, and I had the catfish sandwich. It was fun to be at a place that was featured on that show because I’m obsessed with the Food Network and love all those hosts! It was also a really crappy day out when we went, and walking to the restaurant, I thought the Sears Willis Tower looked supa spooky.

IMG_1571white palace

• We went on a mission to find the little Mexican carts of amazing food on the corners, aka: corn & chips & cucumbers & ice slushes. I’ve been OBSESSED with the “mexican chips” as I like to call them. The little pinwheel guys squirted with lime juice and hot sauce. SO FREAKIN GOOD. Michael knew that I would also love the corn and cucumbers that they have… and he was right. Also loved ’em! They fill the corn with butter, salt, lime juice, mayo, and chili powder. DELICIOUS!

mexican cart

• On a sweet note, I made some delicious AMURICAN red white and blue sprinkled cupcakes, a chocolate cake that me & Michael completely devoured, and look how cute my little monster looks inside our empty beer box?? Awwwwwww. She looks a little hungover herself from all the beer and cake.

sweet

• Eating out wise, I’ve been super spoiled! So. Much. Deliciousness. We got Domino’s the other day, which was amazing. I know that my new obsession there is the Pacific Veggie Pizza. I tinker with the toppings a bit, and it’s becoming one of my new favorite pizzas! We tried our first Chinese place together, called Happiness. It was pretty good, don’t know if I want to order from there again because a) we didn’t get sauce for our crab rangoon, b) there were only like 2 pieces of shrimp in my shrimp dish, and 3) I wasn’t IN LOVE with my meal. HOWEVER, those crab rangoons that I speak of were one of the best kinds I have EVER HAD. They were ohhhh so delicious! Michael also likes to surprise me with Mickey D’s breckie, and we caved and went to Chipotle after me not having it for a pretty long while. It was amazing. hahaha.

eating out

• Michael made some supa yummy meats, and I bought this amazing Guy Fieri habanero mustard wing sauce. SO YUMMY!

IMG_1797 IMG_1793

• Mama made me the best tuna salad in the world…. So I like to try different concoctions with it. First, Michael was making grilled cheese, so I decided to make grilled cheese tuna melt with jalapeños. YUM. Then today I made me a tuna + cheese ‘dilla. EVEN BETTER!!!

tuna

• I bought this supa yummy dip mix when in Saugatuck while shopping around the town. It’s called the Great Lakes Blend. I made it with sour cream and added a little minced onion and garlic salt and it is OH SO GOOD with celery. My go-to snack.

IMG_1795

• What I CAN’T STOP CRAVING lately though are soft pretzels w/ cheese, and Sugar Shack ice cream. Since I’ve only been living here since October, I had never tried the Sugar Shack before as they are only open for Summer hours. I loooooove it. Have been there twice already and both times my Blizzards were amazing. It’s only a block away, so it’s pretty dangerous for two ice cream lovers like me & Michael. Hopefully our daily work-outs will help us fight the battle against the Sugar Shack. hahaha :]

Soooooo that was an obnoxious amount of food pictures, but I love sharing what I love!! :]

Also, I am currently obsessed with my new blog theme. I finally found a new free site design on WordPress that I like for now, and I REALLY like this one! SO much better than before. I love the font, format, and picture views. LOVE LOVE LOVE 🙂 It’s a happy day!

The Best Garlic Bread You Will Ever Make

This garlic bread is amazing. It tastes exactly like Cheesy Texas Toast. I am oh so proud of myself for whipping this stuff up.

I don’t have exact measurements for anything because honestly, it probably doesn’t really matter. It’s just up to you how cheesy/buttery/garlicy you want it to be. For the sake of this post, I will just show exactly how I made it, and I promise you, it is completely delicious. I seriously don’t ever feel like I need to buy Texas Toast again. We eat pasta A LOT around here, and always have Texas Toast or french bread and oil on the side (yup, we’re THAT healthy), but now I am so happy that we can save money and make garlic bread with stuff we always have in the house already!

First I’ll start with what is needed:

IMG_1077Butter, Garlic Salt, & Squeeze Minced Garlic.
Of course if you have fresh garlic that would work too, but I’m lazy and love this squeeze stuff.

IMG_1078my favorite thing ever of course, Olive Oil.

IMG_1079We love cheesy garlic bread, so I used Shredded Mozzarella & Parmesan Cheese.

IMG_1080Of course we need the bread, I just used an italian bread roll.

Now how I made the goodness!

IMG_1081Chop up the pieces as thick as you like them (mine were like 3/4 inch)

IMG_1082Butter those bad boys up!!! The trick I found that made this garlic bread taste better than my other ones I’ve made/had before is that I buttered BOTH sides of the bread. I don’t know if this is common knowledge already and I’m just super late to the game, buuuuut that is what I think makes it super delicious!

IMG_1083

IMG_1086Then I squeeze some of the garlic in a little bowl, and add extra olive oil.

IMG_1087Mix it up real good and make sure you have a little spoon (this one here is a baby’s spoon), so that it is easy to add/spread a little of the mixture to each piece of bread.

IMG_1088I made sure there were very little chunks of the minced garlic in each little spoonful….

IMG_1089and then go ahead and spread lightly over the butter (only on one side of course).

IMG_1090I only put a TINY amount of the parmesan cheese on top, because I can’t handle too much of it, but if you like it, go crazy!

IMG_1093
Then add the mozzarella cheese, and top it all over with a couple sprinkles of the garlic salt!

IMG_1095

Pop it in the oven for 5 minutes at 350 degrees, and boom, you’ve got the most yummy garlic bread you’ve ever made!!!

Nom nom nom!!!! Sooooooo gooooooood :] Hope you enjoy!

Simple ingredients:
Bread
Butter
Minced garlic (squeezed or fresh)
Olive Oil
Cheeses (Mozzarella & Parmesan)

Bake for 5 minutes @ 350 degrees.

all love & smiles :]

michael makin me some grilled cheese mmmm

This is ALL I have been eating. I might have a heart attack soon so I should probably cool it with all the bread and pizza and oil and cheese and macaroni & cheese and grilled cheese, etc. I can’t help it, this is all I’ve been craving, but it’s starting to clog up my veins. I can just feel it! But it is just SO GOOD.

It’s currently hailing/raining/freezing here in Chicago, it’s so ugly outside and I am just SO SICK of winter!!!!
To take my mind off the gross freezingness outside, I decided to look on happier times, which was this summer in Louisiana with my baby cousins :]

2) I don’t normally eat granola, but I need to be healthier and we’ve been eating more yogurt lately so I can’t wait to give these a try!
3) Chocolate covered wasabi peas are a very interesting combo…. however, I TRY to like wasabi, I really really do, but I just don’t. I will give these a try though because they look so very interesting :]
4) I LOVE juice. My favorite drink in the world. So this makes me oh so happy.
5) Salted caramel puffcorn SOOOOOOO DELICIOUS!!!!

My Lazy Sunday

Today was my last day of lazy, taking-it-easyness. Starting tomorrow, Monday, I am getting to work on all the cleaning/organization projects I have been putting off for wayyyyy too long. I have to completely clean out, organize, and basically design our desk space in the office room. I have about 10 loads of laundry to do, along with the entire closet room that needs a gut-out and then completely picked over and then re-folded, washed, hung, etc. I need to find a clean and organized way to keep the back room/kittys room. I need to hang the art/decorations I have around the living rooms and design our room to our perfect liking :] I have quite a lot of work ahead of me since I am a big time-waster and I can sometime find myself sitting in the kitty’s room playing with the them and taking pictures for a good 30 minutes before I even notice any time going by! BUT I WILL GET THROUGH MY PROJECTS AND I WILL GET EVERYTHING IN MY LIFE ORGANIZED THE WAY I WANT IT. ONE DAY…… :]

Like I said, my lazy day consisted of lounging with the kittys, sitting back watching the Blackhawks (WIN!), making some delicious home made breaded mushrooms, and just basically not moving from the couch for the rest of the evening :]

Homemade Pizza – Soooooo Amazing

I have discovered that I love making my own pizza. Freezer pizza has always been my all time fav, but I am thinking that is going to change. I bought the pre-made pizza dough, pizza sauce, pesto, and yummy cheeses at Trader Joe’s and I absolutely LOVED this. It was so soft and mushy and sweet and spicy (I added jalapeños) and just perfect for my pizza loving self.

Lawrence’s Shrimp!

mmmmm today’s lunch was absolutely delicious.
we got Lawrence’s, which is an amazing shrimp/seafood place a couple short blocks away.
we got our usual pound of shrimp, hot sauce on the side, and I needed to also get some yummy ‘shrooms (the fried, normal kind of course!)

place has been around forever...

everything tasted great, it’s places like these that make me LOVE the fact I moved to an awesome place like Bridgeport. I am so close to all these super old food places with so much history and delicious food to back up their excellent reps. “THE BEST SHRIMP IN CHICAGO”… they may actually deserve that name :]
