• 8 Fabulous Finds in this Issue •

Sooooo I’ve been trying to figure out a way to organize all my magazines more efficiently and actually utilize the information or inspiration that I learn/feel while reading, so aside from marking all the pages I want to keep in my magazine binders, I’ve decided to do this!!! It makes me happy, so it works :]

{1} Sofia Vergara. I just love her. I mean, how can you not unless it’s just out of jealousy and envy? She is gorgeous AND hilarious. I think that’s the best winning combo anyone can ask for. Everything I’ve seen her in she always makes me laugh and is very in-your-face, but in a good way. She looks stunning on this cover, and of course I love the bright red and purple theme. (I think half the reason I’m obsessed with magazines in the first place is strictly because I am obsessed with magazine covers. The colors, the beautiful people, and mostly the word art/typography get me every time!!!)

{2} This ad. Love love love love love it. I’m not even a sorbet lover but this is making me a) want some and b) try this vodka!! (Another reason why I’m obssessed with magazines… my crazy obsession for print advertisements. When I was in advertising classes in school, I literally read the textbooks for fun because I loved the ads and the stories behind them that much)

photo

{3} Their “cosmo guy” this month was Michael Bublè. Yummoooo I just love him (and mainly his voice). He discusses his new album, which I have yet to buy (I’m a little behind on my music downloading lately), but I do LOVE his first single off the album, “It’s A Beautiful Day”. Even though it’s about a breakup, it makes me smile and wanna jump up and dance every time. (And the video is awesome.)

{4} Loved the article titled What Makes Us Likeable?: Why are some famous women universally adored while others get the mean girl treatment? And how important is it for women to be liked anyways? This article made me laugh because it talks about some celebs (Emma Stone, Mila Kunis) that everyone seems to love. Then there are other actresses, like Anne Hathaway, who seem very unlikeable. It talks about how we don’t even know/realize WHY we dislike these certain actresses, and I know I am certainly guilty of that. I didn’t realize that there were so many other people that disliked Hathaway the way I do. I mean, I think that I have a legit reason though. When I was younger, I LOVED the Princess Diaries books, so when the movie came out and she was starring, even then I didn’t think she was good enough for the part. She is so bleh to me. Hahahah so basically this article talks about the reasons why people like me think these kinds of things against certain actresses. It made me laugh because it still didn’t change my mind about her.

{5} Ohhhh how this page makes me smile. California, the colors…….. I want that bike shirt, that beach book, the zip pouch, and that awesome sunset top. Just to name a few ;]

photo-1

{6} This ad isn’t my favorite, but it definitely caught my eye with all the blue hues! Also, I love finding new fun polish collections and/or brands. :]

photo-2

{7} This ad. I don’t even know what to say. I would say it’s a trainwreck, because it’s so bad yet I couldn’t keep my eyes off of it. Scratch and sniff…?? For a VODKA ad? A super cheap low quality vodka ad?? It made me laugh for sure. And of course I scratched and sniffed that shiznit. Smelt good too. I’m sure it doesn’t taste as good though.

photo-3

{8} I need these straws. I’ve never seen them before and think they are amazing. I can almost feel the freezing frostyness of them on my lips. You can buy them here!

So those were my random tidbits of fun from this month’s Cosmo. Love love love organizing my thoughts on these things and making lists. So great for me. haha :]

all love & smiles :]

Operation: Magazine Obsession

As I have stated before, I have a sick obsession with magazines. I just feel like I can never throw them away because I was always scared I would lose an article, tip, picture, recipe, etc., so when it was all getting out of hand (I had huge rubbermaid’s full of old magazines), I decided to take charge. Over the past couple years in my free time when I would be home from school, I would slowly go through my magazines, ripping out the pages I wanted to keep, and always keeping the cover. This became a problem because back in the day I had ripped off the covers of tons of magazines and had them covering my entire wall…. (this was circa 2007, it was the day before Prom and I was trying out my dress and tiara with greasy hair) JUST POSTING TO SHOW MY WALL OF MAGAZINE COVERS… the wall behind me was COMPLETELY filled from top to bottom, the entire distance of my wall.

img_0001

Anyway, I’m doing my best to finish all the organization now, so that one day sometime soon, I will have no extra magazine clutter and everything will be fantastic and organized and put in it’s rightful place.

IMG_1340 IMG_1341 IMG_1342

These are the 6 binders of magazines I currently have (1 is still in the making).
With these 6 binders, I was able to purge just over 220 magazines.

220 magazines!!!!!

And those were the only ones I had left without their covers (that were all over my wall when I was younger). I saved the covers and the cover-less magazines, but I just didn’t find the time or energy to go through them all and match them up…. so they ended up in the recycling bin. Just a little over a year ago. I was keeping those things for years and years and finally had the nerve to just THROW THEM OUT. It wasn’t easy, but I did it. hahaha

IMG_1335

Today, here’s the random pile that I am still dealing with. I just went through all my Entertainment Weekly magazines and organized them by date (I was sooo mad to find out that of the years 2011 & 2012, I am missing just TWO issues of each year!!!!)

This is just a TEMPORARY organizing system until I make something more bright & pretty!

This is just a TEMPORARY organizing system until I make something more bright & pretty!

I am also obsessed and LOVING my semi-new collection of Coastal Living. I first subscribed in September 2011, and I don’t know how I ever went without these lovely magazines for so long! They are so full of bright blues and happiness and sunshine and amazing homes and recipes and cities…. I am keeping these in plastic and have to find a fun place to put my most inspirational magazines!

IMG_1339

I also need to sort/organize all my Rolling Stone issues and Alternative Press magazines…. Although I’m not sure if I want to keep all the AP, but I feel so bad throwing them away!!! (Again, I know this is not normal! hahah)

IMG_1343 IMG_1344

Lastly, I don’t have that big of a collection yet, but since we are now monthly subscribers, we’ll be building our Playboy collection slowly but surely ;] I keep them stored in these magazine holder that I need to decorate for now.

IMG_1346

Along with all the magazine purging/sorting/organizing I’m doing today, I still have fresh new May/April issues that I need to read! :]

IMG_1345

So yes, I cannot part with my magazines and I am obsessed with covers and advertisements and articles and pictures and word art…….
and I’m not ashamed to admit it 😉

I can’t wait til I get them all organized and perfect so I can showcase them all!!!

all love & smiles :]

5 Favorite Things in the Magazine

The cover of this week’s EW is so fantastic! I’m so excited to go see the movie next Friday, this cover made me smile for sure! I found my 5 favorite things in the issue that excited me or I felt was worth remembering & linked them up :]

EW 3/8/2013

EW 3/8/2013

1) I know I brought it up last week, BUT I seriously can’t wait for Wreck It Ralph to be on sale so we can head to Best Buy & pick up a copy. Probably end up getting Chipotle for lunch while watching the movie……. A usual Saturday of ours. ;]

2) You know the adorably funny commercials for AT&T with the little kids explaining things? Beck Bennett is the name of the man that sits with the kids asking them questions at the round table. I have always liked those commercials and I thought it was awesome to learn that Beck, who is 28, got casted in these commercials after his work on YouTube was discovered. His series “Fresh Perspectives” is absolutely hilarious is pretty much like the commercials. This one made me laugh out loud.

3) I can’t wait to see this movie, I love both Paul Rudd & Tiny Fey, they are both hilarious! Here’s the trailer.

4) In case I haven’t mentioned before, I am OBSESSED with (print) advertisements. Ever since I could remember, when looking through magazines, I never minded the ad pages because I would just obsess over them, finding the elements I loved, the parts I would change, etc. It’s always been one of my favorite things to collect too (I have binders FULL of my favorite ads that I have been collecting for well over 10 years). Anywayyyyy, this Tic-Tac ad makes me smile because of the bright colors, but I also love when the ad’s teach ya a fun fact like that! The other one in this series I especially remember is this one.

IMG_0691

5) Finally, the beautiful Natalie Portman in her Miss Dior perfume ad. I love all the ads in this series, she is sooooo gorgeous and the pictures are just so simple & perfect. This video is the Miss Dior film, she is SO SMOKIN HOT in it!

IMG_0693

I’m so obsessed with my magazines (and always have been), I’m so happy that I’m now finally actually looking into the things I would dog-ear the pages to remember….. but then would just get tossed aside and never done. Today, I’m able to listen to the songs, watch the videos, look up things I wanted to further learn about it, etc. It’s so exciting & I love that I’ll always be able to remember it now :]

all love & smiles :]

EW + a Little Shopping

Just a few quick tidbits from this week’s Entertainment Weekly, and then my fun new items I bought shopping this weekend. Haven’t really been shopping in a while, and I even stopped shopping online for almost a good 2 weeks. And for me, that’s crazy awesome because I usually purchase at least like, one Groupon a day and constantly checking out other sales and such online. Now that I had quit my job, however, things have changed & I’m trying to be more frugal (which really isn’t that hard for me because I already have so much, I don’t need anymore crap in our house!)………. but, there IS always room for more…. or so I tell myself :]

Next, from Payless Shoes: I just had to get these for a couple reasons. A) I just threw away my shorter heeled, pointy toed black pair of shoes the other day with the intention of buying a new pair, B) not only were these on sale, but they were from Payless, so they were cheap and I thought I would be paying a lot more for a pair, C) everybody needs a favorite pair of black heels that can go with just about everything and now I found my favorite ones :]

The brush was needed as well because I have been using the same brush that is in 2 pieces that I constantly have to glue back together…. for the past 4 years! The beautiful blue color of this new brush didn’t hurt either :]

Inspiration from magazines.

Like I have already said before, I love reading and collecting magazines. I think the main reason I can never throw them away is because I’m afraid that I’ll remember something I read and want to be able to refer back to something. Now, I will start marking the little things that make me happy or pictures I want to remember, and start blogging with them here :]

Today’s inspiration comes from a couple magazines:

Coastal Living is one of my all-time favorite magazines. They are a breeze to read/look through, and the photos are always super gorgeous and perfect, making me jealous but also giving me ideas for my future coastal home I dream to have one day 🙂 I would recommend this magazine to anyone who loves the whole beach scene and things revolving around that sort of decor and meals… super great mag!

My Obsession with Magazines

My obsession with magazines has gotten to the point where it’s turning into more of a hoarding addiction. Since I was old enough to read, I was always running to the magazine aisle while my parents were doing their shopping; something about the colors, the pages, the advertisements and the beautiful photographs always kept me coming back for more and more. Currently, I’m subscribed to at least 15 magazines, sometimes it’s hard to keep count. I have my absolute favorites that never sit around the house more than a day or two before it’s been read, but there are others that sometimes seem to pile up and I end up reading old issues of them….. these are the reasons I know I need to cut back and stop with all the waste and clutter of extra mail… but, I’m obsessed with getting my mail and love seeing new magazines on my doorstep, so I don’t see myself cutting back anytime soon. hehehe oooops.

Yesterday in particular was awesome because not only was it Saturday, I got 4 of my favorite magazines delivered to me in the mail!!

my favs

We’ve been waiting to receive our first Playboy in the mail forever, and yesterday it finally came, me & the BF were quite excited :] I don’t know how or why I enjoy those magazines so much, but after watching Girls Next Door I just started to love the whole Playboy atmosphere and it makes me laugh and keeps me guessing what will come next…. Plus, it’s always fun to pour over pages of beautiful girls, looking for any extra tips or beauty tricks… and girl’s are just hot, plain & simple.

So of course I had to start with my new Playboy. I always seem to mark pages in my magazines of things I want to remember to go back and try or do or make, etc., so from now on, I will just post the fun things I find and share :]

So I saw this awesome ad for this self chilling energy drink that almost looks like a sister product to Monster with the design of the can. I looked it up, and this product actually looks really awesome! There is NO sugar or caffeine added to the drink! Also, like it says, it is “self chilling” so you just press the button and the magic of science helps to make your drink cold enough to enjoy. This looks like something I would certainly want to try, if not just for the fact to see how cold it really does get and if it gives me enough energy to get me through a rough morning! Sadly, it doesn’t seem like there are any places around the midwest where you can purchase this product.
