Food… Food… & even MORE Food.

So it’s no secret that I’m overly obsessed with food. I seem to talk about it all day, love looking at food photography and reading recipes, I love walking the aisles of the grocery store, and I wish I could try out every single restaurant in America. I just LOVE it. Looking through the pictures on my phone from the past couple of weeks, I’ve had a little more than usual food/meal pictures. I just looked through them all and couldn’t help but say OMG I EAT SO MUCH DAMN FOOD!!!!!!!!! But sometimes, I just don’t care because I love meal times and, let’s face it, I just have no self-control.

Soooo onto the food fest! I just love sharing food experiences and concoctions and just all-around yummy foods!!! {These meals were consumed starting April 21st, so it’s not like these meals are from just this past week or anything! hahah}

• We are ‘dilla LOVERS over here. The George Foreman quesadilla maker most certainly got it’s $20.00 worth of use. We use that thing at least once a week, usually much more. I made a super seasoned up cheese ‘dilla with my favorite salsa in the world (from El Gallo of course).dilla

•Edamame ❤ How I love thee.

 • Strangely large & weird dinner one night: Fish fillets w/ my tarter sauce + ketchup combo, edamame, & apples w/ pepper jack cheese slices. SO GOOD.

 • One morning (before an interview) I even tried an Instant Breakfast… which turned out to be super delicious and filling!

• My parents took me to lunch at Horse Thief Hollow, which is an awesome brewery on the south side of Chicago. I got the spinach & goat cheese “burger”, along with a cup of their amazingly delicious chili. There are like huge chunks of delicious meat in there, not just your average ground beef. The place has a super nice vibe to it and I can’t wait to go back and try more of their menu items and test out some of their beers!

 • Michael & I finally went to the White Palace Grill, a restaurent right near us that Guy Fieri visited on Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives! We were super excited! It ended up being delicious. We shared some mozz sticks, both had delicious chicken soup, and I had the catfish sandwich. It was fun to be at a place that was featured on that show because I’m obsessed with the Food Network and love all those hosts! It was also a really crappy day out when we went, and walking to the restaurant, I thought the Sears Willis Tower looked supa spooky.

IMG_1571white palace

• We went on a mission to find the little Mexican carts of amazing food on the corners, aka: corn & chips & cucumbers & ice slushes. I’ve been OBSESSED with the “mexican chips” as I like to call them. The little pinwheel guys squirted with lime juice and hot sauce. SO FREAKIN GOOD. Michael knew that I would also love the corn and cucumbers that they have… and he was right. Also loved ’em! They fill the corn with butter, salt, lime juice, mayo, and chili powder. DELICIOUS!

mexican cart

• On a sweet note, I made some delicious AMURICAN red white and blue sprinkled cupcakes, a chocolate cake that me & Michael completely devoured, and look how cute my little monster looks inside our empty beer box?? Awwwwwww. She looks a little hungover herself from all the beer and cake.

• Eating out wise, I’ve been super spoiled! So. Much. Deliciousness. We got Domino’s the other day, which was amazing. I know that my new obsession there is the Pacific Veggie Pizza. I tinker with the toppings a bit, and it’s becoming one of my new favorite pizzas! We tried our first Chinese place together, called Happiness. It was pretty good, don’t know if I want to order from there again because a) we didn’t get sauce for our crab rangoon, b) there were only like 2 pieces of shrimp in my shrimp dish, and 3) I wasn’t IN LOVE with my meal. HOWEVER, those crab rangoons that I speak of were one of the best kinds I have EVER HAD. They were ohhhh so delicious! Michael also likes to surprise me with Mickey D’s breckie, and we caved and went to Chipotle after me not having it for a pretty long while. It was amazing. hahaha.

eating out

• Michael made some supa yummy meats, and I bought this amazing Guy Fieri habanero mustard wing sauce. SO YUMMY!

IMG_1797 IMG_1793

• Mama made me the best tuna salad in the world…. So I like to try different concoctions with it. First, Michael was making grilled cheese, so I decided to make grilled cheese tuna melt with jalapeños. YUM. Then today I made me a tuna + cheese ‘dilla. EVEN BETTER!!!

• I bought this supa yummy dip mix when in Saugatuck while shopping around the town. It’s called the Great Lakes Blend. I made it with sour cream and added a little minced onion and garlic salt and it is OH SO GOOD with celery. My go-to snack.

• What I CAN’T STOP CRAVING lately though are soft pretzels w/ cheese, and Sugar Shack ice cream. Since I’ve only been living here since October, I had never tried the Sugar Shack before as they are only open for Summer hours. I loooooove it. Have been there twice already and both times my Blizzards were amazing. It’s only a block away, so it’s pretty dangerous for two ice cream lovers like me & Michael. Hopefully our daily work-outs will help us fight the battle against the Sugar Shack. hahaha :]

IMG_1569 IMG_1806

Soooooo that was an obnoxious amount of food pictures, but I love sharing what I love!! :]

Also, I am currently obsessed with my new blog theme. I finally found a new free site design on WordPress that I like for now, and I REALLY like this one! SO much better than before. I love the font, format, and picture views. LOVE LOVE LOVE 🙂 It’s a happy day!

all love & smiles :]

Fennville, MI + Sounds of Saugatuck

I’m finally getting around to it now, but last weekend I went on a fun little trip to my friend’s cottage in Michigan for a music bar crawlish experience in Saugatuck, and some relaxing, wine tasting, and shopping. I was a little overwhelmed at first because I accidentally took 102 pictures, but I’m excited to now re-live (document) our super fun weekend! :]

• On our way to Fennville, we stopped for dinner at a fabulous brewery called Greenbush Brewing Co. It was SO DELICIOUS! I got a grilled cheese w/ jalapeños & tomatoes and a delicious beer called Loud Mouth Soup. I think I only wanted it because of the name, but it was still amazing and hid a nice amount of alcohol content in that one little ol’ beer. So that was a plus :] I was mad that I wasn’t brave enough to take a nice picture of the beer menu sign because it was super colorful and unique. Oh well, this blurry one will have to suffice. Next time I’m driving up to Michigan, I will be sure to stop back here again! Everyone was so friendly, the food was delicious, and the beer was fantastic!

• We planned on getting to her cottage, starting a campfire, and drinking some beers…. buuuuut plans changed when we got word from her parents that the house was flooded. And we had to rip out all the carpets. And move all the furniture…. It actually wasn’t too bad because there were 5 of us able to help out, so we got it all done in a couple of hours. Wasn’t the first night any of us were expecting, but it made for an interesting night.

• Woke up to a delicious breckie.
• Took the dog for a nice, long walk where I discovered 7582058 houses I want to own. This super long amazing blue one was my favorite.

sat morn

• That afternoon… we biked to the Fenn Valley Winery! I had never been to one before so wasn’t sure what to expect…. It was pretty awesome! We got to sample 6 wines, then we picked our favorite, bought ourselves a couple bottles, and went outside on the patio to drink & sit in the sun. It is literally my definition of a fabulous afternoon. I also found a kitty & ate random meat snacks, so it was amazing. Oh, and the drunky bike ride back was also quite excellent. :]

bike wine wine2

• That evening, we got ready, had some Jell-O shots, and were on our way to bar hop around the town for the Sounds of Saugatuck. Basically we drank at random bars and heard some great musicians. {We also danced on the piano top, sang karaoke, and randomly sang with the band at one of the bars… buuuuuut those were some brave points!!} We had a great group of 7, and we all seemed to have too so much fun!! The next morning, my body was sore from dancing and jumping around like a madwoman. It was such a long (we went out at 6:30 and didn’t even get home until almost 2 I believe), eventful, fantastic night :] And of course when we got back to the house we chowed down on tons of junk food. Typical.

The first bar we went to was called Zing. The decor was SOOOO awesome, I was obsessed. All leopard and cheetah print with vibrant colors. I was in love. Next time, I want to go back there and have dinner. We all had a round of Bloody Mary’s, they were delish.

my beautiful lady friends

Then the rest of the night was a blur of multiple bars, singing, and dancing. Lots and lots of dancing, aka jumping around and singing at the top of my lungs.

• Ordered super yummy breckie sandwiches that we enjoyed outside in the backyard by the lake :]

• Later after we got our hang overs in control, we went shopping in the lovely little town of Saugatuck (exactly where we were the night before at all the bars, but it looked a lot different in the day and I appreciated it so much more!) I was obsessing over those colorful yarn wrapped hangers, I was so tempted to buy all these amazing home made salsas and jams, those little tiny spice mixing bowl things were sooo adorable and small, of course I wanted a kitty shirt, and there was an entire store DEVOTED to Christmas. That entire wall is full of Christmas tree ornaments. It was oh so magical. I love shopping around in little fun, trendy towns like this. Such a great time :]

shop shop2 shop3

• Lastly, we got some late lunch at a delicious restaurant called The Mermaid Bar & Grill. It was right on the edge of the water, so it was super pretty to look outside and see all the pretty sailboats and such. I got an amazingly delicious Portabella Mozzarella sandwich with pesto mayo. The pesto mayo= amazingess in my mouth. It was a great end to our little trip :]

Such a great time :] I love getting away from Chicago to smaller towns where things are a bit slower and people are generally a bit nicer haha.

I love discovering all the cool new brands and products that I get to sample from these boxes. They usually send a large(er) supply of goodies every month compared to all the other boxes that I get. This month, 12 new products wooooo hoo!! :]

The Post That Makes Me Happy :)

I have been playing the waiting game this week. After a pretty great interview (if I do say so myself!) I have been waiting to hear back to find out if I will be employed in the near future or not! All day I have been stressing about this, so I thought this was the perfect time to look back on the fantastic week I had filled with our first White Sox game, yummy food, good friends, and basically everything and anything else that makes me happy!

It’s already almost the end of the work day, and I haven’t heard anything, so instead of going crazy and stressing out, I will just look back on this fabulous week of pictures and smile :]

IMG_1257 Untitled IMG_1262 Untitled1 IMG_1275

Some Easter goodness I didn’t post the other day… I made the lamb cake this year and we had to bake it like 4 times because it kept coming out like a jello jiggler…ended up perfect & delicious though, and I especially loved the  creepy face with the moving googly eyes I added on him! Also, my mom said the Easter Bunny will continue to visit me forever, which makes me very happy :] I see no reason why he can’t continue bringing me excellent baskets of goodies every year!

IMG_1286 IMG_1266

Food that I just can’t seem to get enough of: butter & jelly on toast (I go through my addictive phases of loving this breakfast/snack), and of course our favorite Mexican joint over here, Mexico Steak House. We get it all the time, and I never get sick of it because I love my staples there, but I also have never been disappointed with anything new I’ve tried! As a matter of fact, Michael’s mom is meeting us for dinner there tonight! Yummmmooo!

We did some Spring Cleaning over here and Michael was in charge of the bedroom… He made the bed fabulously and this is how I found it… I meeeaaaaannnn that’s not even a quarter of my Build A Bear collection! hahah (and Nemo is his!) Yes, it’s like we’re 8, but I love it :]

Untitled2 Untitledc Untitledf IMG_1311

We went to our first Sox game together, which was great because now that we live right here in Bridgeport, it was my first Sox game I got to walk right on over to! We live so close! It was a bit chilly, but as soon as the shade draped over our section (Row 8, Seat #8, because Michael is adorable like that!!!) we would just go mosey on over to another section, which was awesome because I got to sit in places I never have before! It was a really great time! I HAVE AN OBSESSION WITH THE CORN AT THE WHITE SOX GAMES! If you have never tried the amazingness that is corn right off the cob, mixed with all those delicious ingredients, you are MISSING OUT! We also got nachos and pretzels and cheese and a hot dog and beers and beers…… What can I say, we’re huuuuge suckers for concession stands.

Even after all the food and beer at the game, I still came home and made myself a mini DiGiorno’s pizza…. mmmmmmm. Couldn’t resist.

IMG_1316 IMG_1325 IMG_1319 IMG_1320

Last night me and the lady friends went out for dinner and drinks at Gilhooley’s, a super nice and delicious little pub right down the street from my girlfriend’s apartment. They must have just revamped their menu because I’ve been there PLENTY of times and have never been this satisfied with it before! It was sooooo yummy! That chili I got was absolutely to die for, and they gave me so much cheese and green onions on the side, I couldn’t have asked to make it any better! SO GOOD! Then we also had a plethora of other goodies, not even pictured were my favorite onion stringys and some atomic boneless wings we ordered. All super delicious! Not to mention the bottles were only $1.50, so it was cheap…. and they even served me my Rolling Rock in a big pitcher of ice because apparently no one ever orders them so they had no cold ones. Thanks Gilhooley’s! :]

Now Aria’s laying on my lap being super adorable and precious, as always. Awwwww.

Meow off to the Mexico Steak House for some amazing soup and veggie ‘dillas! NOM NOM NOM :]

all love & smiles :]

Some Fantastical Things

8 things that got me excited lately (whether for the good or bad!)

(1) We took a little trip to Davenport this weekend, back to St. Ambrose, because Michael had a volleyball tourney he was playing in…. I tagged along because I love to watch him play…. BUT I ALSO LOVE AZTECA MY FAVORITE MEXICAN PLACE EVER!

home of the delicious queso blanco, that I CANNOT find anywhere near here!

my favorite dish: spinach quesadilla!! even if it wasn't Lent, it's still my go-to dinner there!

(2) I love watching Michael play volleyball because it makes him so happy and I also think he’s really good :] One day, (when I finally get another job) I can save up enough money to buy myself a pretty nice new camera so that my action shot pictures won’t look as crappy as these…. Oh well, they still make me smile.

Untitled1 Untitled2

(3) I just joined a new subscription box service, Julep. They are a monthly nail polish box, BUT THE ONLY REASON I did it was because I found a free coupon code for new members, making your first box only cost $.01! That’s right, only 1 cent for a $19.99 box! The code is: JULEPVIP. I already wrote myself a note to go ahead and cancel it next month so they don’t charge my card. It looks like a very nice service, it’s just not one I would spend that much money on. But for almost free, why not!? I took the style quiz and they paired me with their “Boho Glam” look. They were actually spot on! Here is what I’ll be looking forward to in my box!

Screen Shot 2013-03-24 at 8.59.23 PM

(4) I made a terrible mistake. A disgustingly terribly gross nasty horrendous mistake. I was so excited when I found this box of mac and cheese at Target a while back, because I LOVE buffalo flavored anything…. little did I know that in tiny writing under “Buffalo” it said with Blue Cheese sauce. EW. I had been putting it to the side, always scared to try it because I loathe the nasty fart flavor of blue cheese in my mouth. I thought what the heck, I should just try it because maybe it isn’t as strong as I thought it would be. BOY WAS I WRONG. I took a couple of bites and my stomach was in knots, wondering what was this garbage that I just ingested. I DON’T KNOW HOW PEOPLE EAT THIS STUFF. Ewwwww.

(5) I finally tried my first clay mask. I had no idea what I was doing, but I had an interview the next morning so I figured I could make my skin healthy and smooth the night before. It was fun feeling like a kid spreading legit clay all over my face, but I guess I was just dumb and didn’t realize that it hardens (and so quickly). I kinda got scared, but kept it on for the allotted amount and time… and OMG DID I LOVE IT! It made my skin as soft as a baby’s, and I will definitely be making this a weekly ritual! :]

(6) I have a little obsession with the Eat This, Not That! series of books. Here are a couple of the ones I have, not pictured is the cook book one and the diet book, and I can’t wait to buy the 2013 one!! (This whole not having a job thing is REALLY cramping my shopping style!) If you haven’t ever bought a copy of these books, you’re really missing out! The food pictures are great and it’s super informative and inspiring! And fun! You can find them on for only $0.75!!! What a steal!

(7) My little guilty pleasure: frozen dinner meals. I love the “healthier” options too, ones that are acceptable in a public place like work, BUT there is something about the perfection of 5 chicken nuggets, corn, and mac and cheese that makes me SO HAPPY. And when they’re on sale for $0.88 I just can’t pass them up!

(8) HOW PRECIOUS ARE MY ADORABLE KITTAAAYYSSSS???!!! Aria is getting soooo big!!

The Best Garlic Bread You Will Ever Make

This garlic bread is amazing. It tastes exactly like Cheesy Texas Toast. I am oh so proud of myself for whipping this stuff up.

I don’t have exact measurements for anything because honestly, it probably doesn’t really matter. It’s just up to you how cheesy/buttery/garlicy you want it to be. For the sake of this post, I will just show exactly how I made it, and I promise you, it is completely delicious. I seriously don’t ever feel like I need to buy Texas Toast again. We eat pasta A LOT around here, and always have Texas Toast or french bread and oil on the side (yup, we’re THAT healthy), but now I am so happy that we can save money and make garlic bread with stuff we always have in the house already!

First I’ll start with what is needed:

IMG_1077Butter, Garlic Salt, & Squeeze Minced Garlic.
Of course if you have fresh garlic that would work too, but I’m lazy and love this squeeze stuff.

IMG_1078my favorite thing ever of course, Olive Oil.

IMG_1079We love cheesy garlic bread, so I used Shredded Mozzarella & Parmesan Cheese.

IMG_1080Of course we need the bread, I just used an italian bread roll.

Now how I made the goodness!

IMG_1081Chop up the pieces as thick as you like them (mine were like 3/4 inch)

IMG_1082Butter those bad boys up!!! The trick I found that made this garlic bread taste better than my other ones I’ve made/had before is that I buttered BOTH sides of the bread. I don’t know if this is common knowledge already and I’m just super late to the game, buuuuut that is what I think makes it super delicious!

IMG_1086Then I squeeze some of the garlic in a little bowl, and add extra olive oil.

IMG_1087Mix it up real good and make sure you have a little spoon (this one here is a baby’s spoon), so that it is easy to add/spread a little of the mixture to each piece of bread.

IMG_1088I made sure there were very little chunks of the minced garlic in each little spoonful….

IMG_1089and then go ahead and spread lightly over the butter (only on one side of course).

IMG_1090I only put a TINY amount of the parmesan cheese on top, because I can’t handle too much of it, but if you like it, go crazy!

Then add the mozzarella cheese, and top it all over with a couple sprinkles of the garlic salt!

Pop it in the oven for 5 minutes at 350 degrees, and boom, you’ve got the most yummy garlic bread you’ve ever made!!!

Nom nom nom!!!! Sooooooo gooooooood :] Hope you enjoy!

Simple ingredients:
Minced garlic (squeezed or fresh)
Olive Oil
Cheeses (Mozzarella & Parmesan)

Bake for 5 minutes @ 350 degrees.

all love & smiles :]

KLUTCHclub March 2013 Review

This month’s KLUTCHclub box was pretty great, and of course this happens the month that I cancel my subscription. It is one of the pricer boxes I get at $17/month, but the first two boxes I received (January and February) weren’t worth the money (to me I mean). They boast “$50 of the best healthy snacks, supplements, fitness programs, personal-care products, and more”, and although most of the products I received were pretty cool, some of the “programs” that are “worth” the most money were just pointless to me. It was like I was getting maybe the $17 back for the products, and then they send gift cards for random stuff I wouldn’t use for $20 or $30 some dollars. THIS MONTH HOWEVER, the 2 programs they give gift cards to are pretty cool and I love most all the other stuff too!

Let’s get to the box!!!

Nice big booklet of information about the products included

Nice big booklet of information about the products included

Item #1) Skinny Pop 100-Calorie Popcorn Snack
Retail value: $3.69, 4.4 oz

Item #2) 1 month giftcard
Retail value: $14.95 for the month
I thought this was kind of silly. I’ve seen commercials for the company, about how it helps you “train your brain”, and always thought “Who the heck would pay money for this?!” BUUUUUUT now that I have a free month of it, I checked out the website and it looks kinda cool! I won’t be renewing it and paying for it next month, but I think it’ll be fun. It says that after just 10 hours of working on stuff, you can see improvements in the areas that you needed the most help on (for me, that will be memory).

Item #3) Lacote USA Guam Beauty Mud Cellulite Treatment
Retail value: $69.00, 17.64 oz.

Item #4) Cocoa Via, Daily Cocoa Extract Supplement
Unsweetened Dark Chocolate, 1o packets
Retail value: $39.95 for 30 count box

Item #5) Aligned $30 Gift, 1 month worths
I had no idea what this was and it looked super weird… but then I checked out the website and it was completely fantastic! It looks pretty cool, it’s sopposed to help you get to know yourself better and stuff… It just seems pretty interesting :]

Item #6) Juice Beauty, Hydrating Mist
Retail value: $22.00, 6.75 oz.
I already got this in my ipsy Glambag this month, making me think that this product was being given away for free like crazy.

Item #7) Green & Black’s Organic Dark Chocolate
Dark 70%, 1.2 oz
Retail value: $35.84, pack of 10

Item #8) Corazonas Blueberry Oatmeal Squares
Retail value: $13.99 for 12 pack

Item #9) Crystal Body Deodorant Stick
Retail value: $2.99 for the travel size
This looks pretty awesome. It has no scent, you just splash a little water on and then use it to block odor. The only ingredients are natural mineral salts.

Item #10) Davidson’s Organic Tea
Tropical Green, Sun Moon & Stars, Red Green & White
Retail value: $2.95 for a box of 8

I think I got my money’s worth for this box, and I’m really happy about it! I know I cancelled my subscription, but that’s only because I’m currently unemployed and need to cut back on some stuff…. maybe in a couple months I’ll try them out again! These 3 months were pretty fun with them tho! :]

This month’s Conscious Box is fantastic as usual!!! For $19.95/month it’s sooo worth it to me to get a box of random amazing goodies that surprises me each & every time!

DSCN0851 DSCN0852

This month it was packed to the brim, let’s see what’s inside this month!!!!!

1) Zarbee’s All-Natural Cough Syrup
Honey Lemon, 2 tsps, 1 dose
List price: $7.99, 4 oz.

All-in-One Multivitamin + Omega 3s + Vitamin D, 6 gummies/1 day supply
List price: $27.95, 1 bottle, 1 month supply

 4) Pure Living Paradise Tea?
Vanilla Chaga TGRT Raw
I’m thoroughly confused about this product/brand. First off, the loose tea was all over my box because all it came in was this folded paper towel. It gives no real information except it says you can consume it or bathe in it….? I checked out their website, here, and it’s just as weird as the product itself. I’ll probably steep it to make tea and see what happens and what it tastes like, although I’m kind of scared. I’m probably just being dumb because I’m not a big tea drinker but this is really strange to me…..

5) Stash Organic Herbal Tea (Caffeine free)
Chocolate Orange, 2 packs

All in all, I LOVED this box! It’s always fun to receive items in different categories, such as food, drink, bath, kitchen, etc. The food bars look yummy, I always love gummie vitamins, an energy shot is sometimes needed, and I am so pumped to use the kitchen iPhone sleeves because reading my recipes on my phone gets so messy!!! Love it!!

michael makin me some grilled cheese mmmm

This is ALL I have been eating. I might have a heart attack soon so I should probably cool it with all the bread and pizza and oil and cheese and macaroni & cheese and grilled cheese, etc. I can’t help it, this is all I’ve been craving, but it’s starting to clog up my veins. I can just feel it! But it is just SO GOOD.

It’s currently hailing/raining/freezing here in Chicago, it’s so ugly outside and I am just SO SICK of winter!!!!
To take my mind off the gross freezingness outside, I decided to look on happier times, which was this summer in Louisiana with my baby cousins :]
