What I’m Wednesdays {Week 2}

soooo this post is a day late… woooops…

What I’m……

Wearing ~ We continued to have casual week last week, also didn’t include pictures of my stupid black outfits I have to wear to work on the weekends… A little Blackhawks, a winterized summer dress, mr. rogers sweater, and my favorite pair of jeans with my fanciest Tory Burch flats : )

IMG_3301 IMG_3289 IMG_3337

Always wearing my white Michael Kors watch & my 2 silver bracelets from Links. Those are also some beads from Vietnam from one of my bff's. : )

Eating ~ Cold pumpkin spice from Corner Bakery, an example of my always random lunches full of goodies from my boxes and a delicious 3 Cheese Ziti of course! … a free plate of breakfast I snagged from the office, some panda express for a late dinner, my FIRST TIME at Freshii’s and OMG I am in love! You get to make your own concoctions and add as many ingredients as you want and it was just SO DELICIOUS! Also some goodies we picked up from the store the other night when we were feelin’ like fatties hahaha ; )

Listening to ~ The Pop Underground by Andrew McMahon!! This little LP only has 4 songs on it, but I have had them on repeat to and from work for the past couple of days, over and over and over again. I just can’t get enough of Andrew’s voice, I’ve loved him since his Something Corporate days and I am just overly obsessed. I loved Jack’s Mannequin and I also like what he can do on his own. This album is from April, but in my haze of job applying and lost direction, I somehow didn’t even notice that he had released this LP. I am for sure making up for that with all the listens I am giving it. This week there were SO MANY amazing albums that also came out, however I haven’t had time to really listen and go over them, so that will be a post for another day.

Listen to Synesthesia right NOW!

Looking Forward To ~ I finally decided on a pair of boots from my JustFab credit, so eager to get them (and see if they actually fit!!!). I hate returning things in the mail so I really hope these puppies are as big as people commented they were because I bought a size down in hopes that they will fit the right way since they don’t have a 9.5, only 9 or 10… I went with the 9 and hope that’s the right choice!! IT ALSO CAME WITH A YEAR AND HALF SUBSCRIPTION TO US WEEKLY! I didn’t even have to pay for anything! I though that was completely crazy because I know how expensive those tabloids are but I just started subscribing to Us Weekly when there was a Groupon or something for it…. Now mine will be extended for  1.5 years! Yayyy : ) Here are the boots I ordered:

Can’t wait to see how they look in real life! : ) Also looking forward to receiving my October boxes, I got my Taste Trunk in the mail yesterday and it is FULL of goodies! Can’t wait to review it!

I Gave In {new fall/winter gear}

ever since forever I’ve always been against having a Northface. It seemed like EVERYBODY had one, and if you didn’t (like me) you just better get one soon because, like, seriously, almost every single person I see around my parts wears them. the truth is, of course, I think most of the fun different ones are cute and comfy. The only setback is the high price, but I was going to get a great deal at Macys, so yesterday I bought me 2 new jackets from Northface! I couldn’t stop at just ONE for my first to my probably going to grow collection.

nf2 nf1

Although I do love the white & grey one that almost every girl I see has, I wanted to be different and that black and aqua one was literally calling my name!!! It is so me and I wore it to work already today!! : ) The all blue one is a SUPER FUZZY AND AMAZINGLY SOFT fleece that has an awesome rain hood too. I can wear them together and it’s super warm and also looks very nice.

I also bought 4 dresses, 1 pair of jeans, and trunks and a tee for the bf…. for only $81 (not including the Northface purchase of course!!). I will blog about my amazing finds this week : )

Autumn Shopping

photo (11)#fmsphotoaday #SomethingColorful

What could be more positive and fantastic than shopping???

I wanted to make sure to stay full of good vibes, so I thought the best way to start off this fabulous month of October was to do some good shopping. Woooop!

FIRST OFF, to start my day off with awesomeness, I got this fabulous $20 gift certificate for RA Sushi (one of my fav places, sooo good!!!) because it’s my half birthday month! Thanks RA!! : )
(This also means that I need to go there ASAP, which brings me so much joy because I absolutely love everything they have on the menu!! Happy hour what whatttt!!)

Screen Shot 2013-10-01 at 7.52.59 PM

NEXT, I realized I had over 10,000 points on my AmEx account… which could only mean that I needed to get another “free” $100 Apple giftcard!! Yayy!! I’ve already gotten so many of these, I absolutely love that I can buy awesome apps for my iMac and of course so many songs in iTunes. I’m a few points shy of a $50 giftcard from my Visa too…. damn, I LOVE reward points! If you aren’t using yours or don’t have a card that offers them… GET ONE!!!

apple-itunes-100-gift-card

On the online shopping front, I’ve had a cart going on F21 for the past couple of days and still haven’t added the last few items to reach the $50 mark (then it’s free shipping so of course I always feel like I HAVEEE to spend at least $50 haha). The main reason I wanted to buy anything there at all was because of this casual crazy messed up meow kitty cat dress — >

Screen Shot 2013-10-01 at 7.59.20 PM

…. I also added tons of jewelry to my bag too. Most of the items are under $4 so it’s easy to keep adding more to your bag, not realizing or even remembering the items I’ve been adding the whole time! Love surprise time!

And then there’s this little ol’ issue that I’ve been dealing with from JustFab… I hate that you have to cancel/decline the month within the first 5 days of the month, otherwise you are charged the $40 fee and basically can’t get your money back — however, the money counts as a credit towards 1 pair of shoes, so it’s not like you’re technically losing anything. Anyway, I’ve had this credit going on my account for 3 months now and still haven’t found a pair of shoes I’ve loved or really wanted/needed, but they just added some new styles and since it’s now boot season, I want a pair of some nice new boots for casual days at work and weekends. Here are some options…. hmmmm….

Screen Shot 2013-10-01 at 8.18.16 PM

And last, but certainly not least, I am lusting after this item right meow… the sterling silver beads, the beautiful blue heart, the way it will look fantastic on my wrist… I want it I want it! ; )

Screen Shot 2013-10-01 at 8.22.08 PM

PS: My impulsive need to shop also just made me add this, however, this is something that I have wanted and have been looking into for months and months now. The “subscription” type clothing service is called Golden Tote, and I learned all about it by reading reviews from My Subscription Addiction. She has one of my favorite websites and thanks to her I know about so many of the amazing boxes I get… ANYWAY, I am so excited to start this service! For either $49/month with 1-2 items or $149/month with 6-7 items (worth up to $600!!!!), you basically choose two of the items/clothing pieces (I am going to try the $149 option) and then they surprise you with the rest!

Screen Shot 2013-10-01 at 8.50.25 PM Screen Shot 2013-10-01 at 8.51.04 PM
You get to choose the first 2 items and I already want these 2 super bad so I am not ULTRA excited to see what else they surprise me with in my very first Golden Tote!!! : )

all love & smiles,

Treat Yoself Sunday

Yesterday I did some shopping that I haven’t been able to do in a very long time. A long 4 months of not shopping… and after yesterday, it feels sooooo good. I surprised Michael with some amazing pieces and also got myself a lil somethin somethin.

It all starts out with the picture of the day….

JULY 2013

Day #7

Where You Are

photo

I was at work at Links of London all day… which slowly turned into a treat/surprise gift day!!! :]

photo-1

We carry some of the most unique, awesome jewelry around. We are the only Links in the midwest, making our brand even that much more special when you’re wearing one of our pieces. I decided that it was time for Michael to get some nice jewelry, and I am so glad to say that he absolutely loved both of the items! He put them both on right away and asked if he ever has to take them off hahaha ;]

Here’s what I surprised the bf with:

Screen Shot 2013-07-08 at 6.55.08 AM

Our friendship bracelets are so unique and completely awesome. We have every color of the rainbow, along with different designs and sizes. Of course, Michaels favorite one had to be the biggest, most expensive choice, but most of the popular styles start at $225. This looks amazing on his arm and looks even better when stacked with other bracelets.

Screen Shot 2013-07-08 at 6.56.55 AM

When he came to visit me at work, he commented on how much he liked this dogtag. He doesn’t normally wear necklaces, but I got him this dogtag along with a beautiful silver chain and it looks amazing on him!!!! I am so glad! This piece is amazing, especially because it’s inspired by the McLaren race car collection!

I got myself a traditional Sweetie charm bracelet and had a bit of trouble trying to figure out just which charms I “needed”. I ended up with an Amurican stars & stripes apple, a cross, a kitty, and a Miss Princess charm (which I got because it reminded me of Aria hahaha). My bracelet is so beautiful and I’m so glad I get to call a Links piece one of my own!! (Opposed to the other items that I wear but am really only “borrowing” from Links while I work to sell them).

photo

This is a seriously terrible photo but there is no sunlight right now and I have to deal with the terrible kitchen florescent lights, but I just needed to show off my pretty new bracelet! It looks great stacked with other bracelets, now I just need to save enough money to buy more friendships and Links products to stack with :]

————————————————————————————————————————————–

welcomehomeariasign

On this day, I was at work anxiously awaiting 5 o’clock so I could go home, get ready, and head to pick up our new kitten (Aria). Michael sent me this picture that Sims & Charles “made” for their little sister. This made me smile soooooooooo big, I thought it was just the cutest little thing :]

^^^^^ This photo is relevant today because me & Michael are heading out to my friend Jordan’s farm, where she has tons of kittens that me & Michael are about to choose from. Ever since Sims passed away a couple months ago, I have wanted a third kitty again. Something about three of them together just makes sense. There will always be someone for my little energetic Aria to play with!!!! :]

EMPLOYMENT!!!

Yesterday I got a call that I was officially hired and I have a freakin job!!!!!! I am SO EXCITED! I was getting so worried that things just weren’t going to work out and I didn’t know what I was going to do because I was getting dangerously low on funds seeing as I hadn’t worked since mid-February and it’s already nearing the end of June!!! Time has been FLYING by but I am SO HAPPY that I can finally start making some money!

Now I can finally buy some new fun summer dresses & spend more stress-free time outside to get some nice bronzed skin on my white body! I can get some inspiration from myself, circa 1995ish. :]

676_38628104134_9771_n

On another happy note, this week I was lucky enough to get new amazing rollerblades from Michael AND a brand spankin new bike!! We live about a mile away from the beach, so it’s a whole new experience for me that we get to ride and glide on the paths alongside the lake! It’s so beautiful and it’s such perfect scenery to make it seem fun!

Finally, the Blackhawks are fighting for the Stanley Cup right now! They play tonight and hopefully can get a win in after 2 straight losses 😦 Boston is up 2-1, so today is really important for us to win and gain some positive momentum!

Meow I’m off to clean and organize my life!! I have about 7 loads of laundry, a pile of clothes that need to be dry cleaned, a walk in closet that is an absolute pigsty, a pile of dishes that has been growing for WAYYYYY too long, a kitty room cleanup, and then not to mention my hair is an absolute wreck, I need a cut & also need to dye it, my nails need some fixin’ up, and I need to find a self-tanner that agrees with me. TODAY WILL BE A WONDERFULLY BUSY AND PRODUCTIVE DAY :]

{On another random note, I thought it would be fun to sign off my posts with a random picture from anytime in my life where I was genuinely happy. It feels so good to look back on moments like this and remember the fun times that were shared. It’s silly and simple, but it’ll be a fun pretty change.}

Sherrill iowa cowsHere I am chillin’ with the cows on my friend’s family’s dairy farm. I visited there a couple summers and always had SO MUCH FUN. I love them farm animals. * Mary Elyse

Fennville, MI + Sounds of Saugatuck

I’m finally getting around to it now, but last weekend I went on a fun little trip to my friend’s cottage in Michigan for a music bar crawlish experience in Saugatuck, and some relaxing, wine tasting, and shopping. I was a little overwhelmed at first because I accidentally took 102 pictures, but I’m excited to now re-live (document) our super fun weekend! :]

FRIDAY:
• On our way to Fennville, we stopped for dinner at a fabulous brewery called Greenbush Brewing Co. It was SO DELICIOUS! I got a grilled cheese w/ jalapeños & tomatoes and a delicious beer called Loud Mouth Soup. I think I only wanted it because of the name, but it was still amazing and hid a nice amount of alcohol content in that one little ol’ beer. So that was a plus :] I was mad that I wasn’t brave enough to take a nice picture of the beer menu sign because it was super colorful and unique. Oh well, this blurry one will have to suffice. Next time I’m driving up to Michigan, I will be sure to stop back here again! Everyone was so friendly, the food was delicious, and the beer was fantastic!

greenbush

• We planned on getting to her cottage, starting a campfire, and drinking some beers…. buuuuut plans changed when we got word from her parents that the house was flooded. And we had to rip out all the carpets. And move all the furniture…. It actually wasn’t too bad because there were 5 of us able to help out, so we got it all done in a couple of hours. Wasn’t the first night any of us were expecting, but it made for an interesting night.

IMG_1624

SATURDAY:
• Woke up to a delicious breckie.
• Took the dog for a nice, long walk where I discovered 7582058 houses I want to own. This super long amazing blue one was my favorite.
• WATER. BLUE. LOVE.

sat morn

• That afternoon… we biked to the Fenn Valley Winery! I had never been to one before so wasn’t sure what to expect…. It was pretty awesome! We got to sample 6 wines, then we picked our favorite, bought ourselves a couple bottles, and went outside on the patio to drink & sit in the sun. It is literally my definition of a fabulous afternoon. I also found a kitty & ate random meat snacks, so it was amazing. Oh, and the drunky bike ride back was also quite excellent. :]

bike wine wine2

• That evening, we got ready, had some Jell-O shots, and were on our way to bar hop around the town for the Sounds of Saugatuck. Basically we drank at random bars and heard some great musicians. {We also danced on the piano top, sang karaoke, and randomly sang with the band at one of the bars… buuuuuut those were some brave points!!} We had a great group of 7, and we all seemed to have too so much fun!! The next morning, my body was sore from dancing and jumping around like a madwoman. It was such a long (we went out at 6:30 and didn’t even get home until almost 2 I believe), eventful, fantastic night :] And of course when we got back to the house we chowed down on tons of junk food. Typical.

The first bar we went to was called Zing. The decor was SOOOO awesome, I was obsessed. All leopard and cheetah print with vibrant colors. I was in love. Next time, I want to go back there and have dinner. We all had a round of Bloody Mary’s, they were delish.

Then the rest of the night was a blur of multiple bars, singing, and dancing. Lots and lots of dancing, aka jumping around and singing at the top of my lungs.

SUNDAY:
• Ordered super yummy breckie sandwiches that we enjoyed outside in the backyard by the lake :]

IMG_1660

• Later after we got our hang overs in control, we went shopping in the lovely little town of Saugatuck (exactly where we were the night before at all the bars, but it looked a lot different in the day and I appreciated it so much more!) I was obsessing over those colorful yarn wrapped hangers, I was so tempted to buy all these amazing home made salsas and jams, those little tiny spice mixing bowl things were sooo adorable and small, of course I wanted a kitty shirt, and there was an entire store DEVOTED to Christmas. That entire wall is full of Christmas tree ornaments. It was oh so magical. I love shopping around in little fun, trendy towns like this. Such a great time :]

shop shop2 shop3

• Lastly, we got some late lunch at a delicious restaurant called The Mermaid Bar & Grill. It was right on the edge of the water, so it was super pretty to look outside and see all the pretty sailboats and such. I got an amazingly delicious Portabella Mozzarella sandwich with pesto mayo. The pesto mayo= amazingess in my mouth. It was a great end to our little trip :]

Such a great time :] I love getting away from Chicago to smaller towns where things are a bit slower and people are generally a bit nicer haha.

ipsy Glambag March 2013 Review

IMG_0868

This month’s ipsy Glambag had me very excited with their theme of “the Great Escape”. The bag was super cute (I love anchors and basically all things nautical), and even the little card made me smile with the waves and sailboat and dolphin, all things I obviously LOVE.

IMG_0869 IMG_0871

BUT THEN… I turn over the card to find that I was only getting 4 different products this month, which kinda stinks because some of the other boxes I’ve been getting lately have been very generous with 5 and 6 different products. I already don’t like the cards that come with the ipsy bags because they never explain what the product is, it’s uses, prices, etc. They just give the brand and the discount they will offer for being an ipsy subscriber (which most other subscription services also do too).

      IMG_0872

I opened the bag to see what was inside….

IMG_0870

and before I even start to list the goodies inside, I can just say that I was very disappointed with this bag. Nothing was too fun or exciting and it was kind of confusing opening it, because I thought half of one of the products was missing and the cheap looking packaging of the shadows just turn me off. Anywho, HERE ARE THE GOODIES:

Item #1: Glam RX
Mini Freestyle Pallet, price unknown

IMG_0873 IMG_0875

This is the item that I first opened and right away got angry. I thought that something was missing on the inside. I had to go online and check out their website, only to find out that the normal pallet that retails for $16.50 actually comes with stuff inside. This is just a magnet that will hold 2 of the eye shadows that we also got in the bag, and obviously any other little colors with the metal backing. I don’t think I will honestly use this at all. I’m very disappointed in the product to say the least. *Side-note: As I was opening this, Michael said “well I’m sure the colors that go in there are probably in the bag too” and I said “well that’s stupid, I just think they jipped me and gave me a bad/missing one”…. come to find out, he was right. haha the following are the shadows that can start this pallet….

Item #2: yaby
Eyeshadow Refill, 3 grams, $3.15/each

IMG_0879 IMG_0878

As shown, I received 2 shades, #es296 “So Vein”, and #es442 “Sand Dune”. I guess I’m happy that they are both very usable colors, easy for blending and such, but the packaging is so ugly. I know they are just refills and not sopposed to be fancy because you stick them right in your magnetic pallet, but still. It just looks so cheap. I put them in the pallet because I don’t know what else to do with them, but again, this item is just blah and I’m not too happy about it.

Item #3: La Fresh
Travel Lite Makeup Remover, 8 wipes, $1.99

IMG_0876

Ok, so I’m actually happy about this item. I love travel items that are easy for on the go, and these are much easier to remember to throw in your purse than lugging around and always misplacing the normal remover I usually use. I haven’t tried them yet, but they smell like regular baby wipes, so I don’t have a problem with that, although it might feel weird to have wipe-smell all over my face. The usual makeup remover I use from Avon is a lotion that has no scent, and I love that, have been using it for years. Over all, this product wasn’t too bad. Nothing super exciting, but still better than the first two items!

Item #4: Juice Beauty
Hydrating Mist, 1 oz. (Full size, 6.75 oz, $22.00)

IMG_0880

Although I have heard about this product from a friend, I had never used a “hydrating mist” before. I tried it out though, and I didn’t mind the smell, it felt weird to just spray something directly on my face like that though. It says that it “tones & refreshens”, so maybe this would be a great product for when I’m traveling and basically just on the go for a long period of time. I like this brand a lot so I was happy with this product (finally).

All in all, this bag was obviously not my favorite. ipsy Glam Bag is $10/month, and I’m not sure if I even got my money’s worth on this bag, which is a big downer. I’m not thinking about canceling because I have loved the bags in the past, so hopefully next month they step it up and send out a much better bag! :] High hopes!

all love & smiles :]

Glossybox February 2013 Review

This month’s Glossybox was fantastic. As soon as I opened the box I was overwhelmed by the amazing aroma coming out of it. I soon found out it was because of the lovely smelling soap in there, but I will get to that soon! I am excited to use all 5 items :]

IMG_0817 They used pretty pink paper & ribbon to wrap this month’s box, which looked great! They have been changing up the colors lately, so maybe this will be a new monthly thing. Glossybox is a monthly beauty subscription service that costs $21/month. You get 5 travel sized (and sometimes full sized) items a month, and they introduce you to awesome new brands and products. Completely worth the money!

In this month’s box, it was all about International Style…

IMG_0818

Item #1: Bvlgari
Eau Parfumée Au Thé Blanc soap, 1.76 oz
(Full size, $30.00/5.3 oz)

IMG_0819This soap smells soooooooo good. It reminds me of vacation for some reason (and even the BF agreed!) I don’t even want to use it because then it’s gonna be gone & I won’t be able to smell the awesome beachy vacation smell I somehow I get out of this soap. I personally would never pay $30 for regular soap, because let’s face it, I hate showering as it is, so soap doesn’t really excite me too much (plus, I use men’s body washes like Old Spice or Axe because I love those musky guy scents). All in all, I am very happy with this product and can’t wait to smell it all over me!!!! :]

Item #2: Da Vinci Cosmetics
Shimmer Powder, Full size, ($15.00/.06 oz)

IMG_0824

I received #04 “Dejavous”, it’s pinkish but so shimmery it’s light and silvery/white I guess. It got all over my hands before I even opened it, but I didn’t mind because I like sparkly things :] It seems like a perfect highlighter for eyes or cheeks, plus I like the mini lil packaging.

Item #3: Lisi
Sheer Sparkle Lip Gloss, Full size ($6.90/0.31 oz)

IMG_0820 IMG_0821 IMG_0822

I received #012 “Soho”, in the Sheer Sparkle gloss, and first off, I thought this smelled amazing too!!! It reminds me of one of my old favorite Lip Smacker vanilla frosting smells, brings me back & makes me smile :] It’s not sticky or creepy like some glosses, and it’s not too dark or sparkly, it’s just perfect for me :] I’m very excited for this product (plus I always love getting full sizes!!).

Item #4: Missha
Super Aqua Cell Renew Snail Hydro Gel Mask, Full size ($6.00/0.98 oz)

IMG_0825 IMG_0826

I think I’ve only used 1 or 2 gel masks before, but I am excited to try this one out because of the weirdness of it. The third ingredient is “snail slime”. It’s creepy and weird and I love it and can’t wait to try it!!!

Item #5: Nail Rock
Nail Wraps, Full size ($8.00/full set)

IMG_0827 IMG_0829

I love any products I get that are for nails, so I got excited when I got this!!!…. but then, I saw the color I received and wasn’t too excited anymore. I got #NR041 “Union Jack Gold And Black”. It’s like the British flag or something, but instead of being the red white and blue, it’s just gold and black. I suppose I will still try them out, but they look too much like stickers and not the other kinds of nail wraps I have used before. Maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised :]

For the $21 I spent on this box, I got almost $40 worth of products! How’s that for awesome? It’s all wrapped up super cute & nice, an awesome surprise to wait for in the mail, what more can I ask for?! :]

all love & smiles :]

VS Swim 2013 + Express Spring Collection WANTS!

Sooo normally when I get any kind of catalogue they are quickly tossed in the trash. This wasn’t always the case, as when I was a little girl I thought they were as cool as magazines so I would look through those Limited Too & American Girl catalogues over and over until I memorized all the pages basically… yeah, I was a freak. (Was?…) Anyway, now when I get VS or Express catalogues I feel that same pull that I felt for my little girl catalogues. I love the simplicity of Express’s ads and ummmm I always love looking through a Victoria’s Secret catalogue, those ladies are so perfect & motivational to me!
I want the following items, please & thank you :]

A Few Of My Favorite Things…

Yesterday before the Blackhawks game I got to do some lovely shopping and have a delicious lunch at one of my all-time favorite restaurants!
