Popsugar Special Edition Must Have Holiday 2013 Review

IMG_4165

This was a special edition box (one time purchase) from Popsugar, that is no longer available (I’m pretty sure they sell out very quickly). This was the first time that I sprang for one of their Special Edition boxes, and boyyyyyy am I glad I did!!!!

IMG_4168

Unlike their regular monthly subscription box, this box is a one time purchase, and they generally have 4 of these “seasonal” special edition boxes a year. They are a bit more pricey than the regular box, costing $100, but of course promising a value of products that is much, much higher.

IMG_4169

The box itself is just overall amazing. It comes in a reusable, nice black plasticy box, and everything in the inside comes wrapped, just like you’re opening a special present. I surely felt like I was opening a Christmas present from myself (now that I think about it, I kind of wish I kept this under the tree and opened it on Christmas just to make it even more special)… although I don’t know if I could have waited for that!

Whats inside

1 ~ Cuyana – Elizabeth Infinity Scarf
$65.00
This scarf… ohhhh this lovely, super soft, oh so warm, scarf, how I adore you. I was kind of creeped out for a second that it’s made of purely baby alpaca fur, but I realized it’s actually healthy for them and with their coat they are too hot, etc., etc., so this way, we are both benefitting… this scarf is absolutely fabulous and perfect for both fall & winter!

IMG_4199 IMG_4200

2 ~ Erickson Beamon Rocks – Blondie Stone Bangle
$75+ {this is just an estimate when comparing prices to similar items in their collection}
I have to be honest and say that I was not familiar with the Erickson Beamon Rocks brand at all before this bracelet discovery. This is a great piece, especially for holday outfits around this time of year.

IMG_4205 IMG_4206

3 ~ Lunares – Cheese Paddle with Knife
$69.00
What an amazingly awesome cheese plate!!! This is so unique and cool looking, can’t wait to show it off one day!

IMG_4204

4 ~ Tokyomilk by Margot Elena – Body Souffle
$40.00
This product, packaging, scent, everything about it gets an A+!!! It smells wonderful and the heavy square container is so unique and feels so incredibly fancy (which essentially it is considering it’s a $40 lotion!) LOVE love love this product.

IMG_4171 IMG_4172

5 ~ Fatty Sundays – Peppermint Crunch Dark Chocolate Covered Pretzels
$6.95
These look so great, however, I do not like dark chocolate, so that’s a bummer. I’m sure someone else will enjoy them in my family this Christmas season though! : )

IMG_4207

6 ~ Winks by Georgie – False Lash Compact
$28.00
I love false eyelashes. I think they look so pretty on girls BUT I am just so so so bad at applying them. I like that these are good for your skin, and reusable, so I am eager to try and give it another go! For parties during this season, this is a perfect go to item!

IMG_4208

7 ~ Graphic Image – 2014 Datebook
$97.00
OMG!!! I was legit squealing when I opened this!! By far the fanciest, nicest most beautiful little planner that I have ever seen. I love how it was packaged, in a fancy little box. It’s the perfect size for purse, desk, bag, travel, anything!!! AMAZING GIFT!!!!!!

KLUTCHclub March 2013 Review

IMG_1029

This month’s KLUTCHclub box was pretty great, and of course this happens the month that I cancel my subscription. It is one of the pricer boxes I get at $17/month, but the first two boxes I received (January and February) weren’t worth the money (to me I mean). They boast “$50 of the best healthy snacks, supplements, fitness programs, personal-care products, and more”, and although most of the products I received were pretty cool, some of the “programs” that are “worth” the most money were just pointless to me. It was like I was getting maybe the $17 back for the products, and then they send gift cards for random stuff I wouldn’t use for $20 or $30 some dollars. THIS MONTH HOWEVER, the 2 programs they give gift cards to are pretty cool and I love most all the other stuff too!

Let’s get to the box!!!

IMG_1030

Nice big booklet of information about the products included

Nice big booklet of information about the products included

Item #1) Skinny Pop 100-Calorie Popcorn Snack
Retail value: $3.69, 4.4 oz

IMG_1033

Item #2) Lumosity.com 1 month giftcard
Retail value: $14.95 for the month
I thought this was kind of silly. I’ve seen commercials for the company, about how it helps you “train your brain”, and always thought “Who the heck would pay money for this?!” BUUUUUUT now that I have a free month of it, I checked out the website and it looks kinda cool! I won’t be renewing it and paying for it next month, but I think it’ll be fun. It says that after just 10 hours of working on stuff, you can see improvements in the areas that you needed the most help on (for me, that will be memory).

IMG_1043

Item #3) Lacote USA Guam Beauty Mud Cellulite Treatment
Retail value: $69.00, 17.64 oz.

IMG_1040

Item #4) Cocoa Via, Daily Cocoa Extract Supplement
Unsweetened Dark Chocolate, 1o packets
Retail value: $39.95 for 30 count box

IMG_1037

Item #5) Aligned Signs.com $30 Gift, 1 month worths
I had no idea what this was and it looked super weird… but then I checked out the website and it was completely fantastic! It looks pretty cool, it’s sopposed to help you get to know yourself better and stuff… It just seems pretty interesting :]

IMG_1044

Item #6) Juice Beauty, Hydrating Mist
Retail value: $22.00, 6.75 oz.
I already got this in my ipsy Glambag this month, making me think that this product was being given away for free like crazy.

IMG_0880

Item #7) Green & Black’s Organic Dark Chocolate
Dark 70%, 1.2 oz
Retail value: $35.84, pack of 10

IMG_1042

Item #8) Corazonas Blueberry Oatmeal Squares
Retail value: $13.99 for 12 pack
SO YUMMY!

IMG_1038

Item #9) Crystal Body Deodorant Stick
Retail value: $2.99 for the travel size
This looks pretty awesome. It has no scent, you just splash a little water on and then use it to block odor. The only ingredients are natural mineral salts.

IMG_1039

Item #10) Davidson’s Organic Tea
Tropical Green, Sun Moon & Stars, Red Green & White
Retail value: $2.95 for a box of 8

IMG_1041

I think I got my money’s worth for this box, and I’m really happy about it! I know I cancelled my subscription, but that’s only because I’m currently unemployed and need to cut back on some stuff…. maybe in a couple months I’ll try them out again! These 3 months were pretty fun with them tho! :]

ipsy Glambag March 2013 Review

IMG_0868

This month’s ipsy Glambag had me very excited with their theme of “the Great Escape”. The bag was super cute (I love anchors and basically all things nautical), and even the little card made me smile with the waves and sailboat and dolphin, all things I obviously LOVE.

IMG_0869 IMG_0871

BUT THEN… I turn over the card to find that I was only getting 4 different products this month, which kinda stinks because some of the other boxes I’ve been getting lately have been very generous with 5 and 6 different products. I already don’t like the cards that come with the ipsy bags because they never explain what the product is, it’s uses, prices, etc. They just give the brand and the discount they will offer for being an ipsy subscriber (which most other subscription services also do too).

      IMG_0872

I opened the bag to see what was inside….

IMG_0870

and before I even start to list the goodies inside, I can just say that I was very disappointed with this bag. Nothing was too fun or exciting and it was kind of confusing opening it, because I thought half of one of the products was missing and the cheap looking packaging of the shadows just turn me off. Anywho, HERE ARE THE GOODIES:

Item #1: Glam RX
Mini Freestyle Pallet, price unknown

IMG_0873 IMG_0875

This is the item that I first opened and right away got angry. I thought that something was missing on the inside. I had to go online and check out their website, only to find out that the normal pallet that retails for $16.50 actually comes with stuff inside. This is just a magnet that will hold 2 of the eye shadows that we also got in the bag, and obviously any other little colors with the metal backing. I don’t think I will honestly use this at all. I’m very disappointed in the product to say the least. *Side-note: As I was opening this, Michael said “well I’m sure the colors that go in there are probably in the bag too” and I said “well that’s stupid, I just think they jipped me and gave me a bad/missing one”…. come to find out, he was right. haha the following are the shadows that can start this pallet….

Item #2: yaby
Eyeshadow Refill, 3 grams, $3.15/each

IMG_0879 IMG_0878

As shown, I received 2 shades, #es296 “So Vein”, and #es442 “Sand Dune”. I guess I’m happy that they are both very usable colors, easy for blending and such, but the packaging is so ugly. I know they are just refills and not sopposed to be fancy because you stick them right in your magnetic pallet, but still. It just looks so cheap. I put them in the pallet because I don’t know what else to do with them, but again, this item is just blah and I’m not too happy about it.

Item #3: La Fresh
Travel Lite Makeup Remover, 8 wipes, $1.99

IMG_0876

Ok, so I’m actually happy about this item. I love travel items that are easy for on the go, and these are much easier to remember to throw in your purse than lugging around and always misplacing the normal remover I usually use. I haven’t tried them yet, but they smell like regular baby wipes, so I don’t have a problem with that, although it might feel weird to have wipe-smell all over my face. The usual makeup remover I use from Avon is a lotion that has no scent, and I love that, have been using it for years. Over all, this product wasn’t too bad. Nothing super exciting, but still better than the first two items!

Item #4: Juice Beauty
Hydrating Mist, 1 oz. (Full size, 6.75 oz, $22.00)

IMG_0880

Although I have heard about this product from a friend, I had never used a “hydrating mist” before. I tried it out though, and I didn’t mind the smell, it felt weird to just spray something directly on my face like that though. It says that it “tones & refreshens”, so maybe this would be a great product for when I’m traveling and basically just on the go for a long period of time. I like this brand a lot so I was happy with this product (finally).

All in all, this bag was obviously not my favorite. ipsy Glam Bag is $10/month, and I’m not sure if I even got my money’s worth on this bag, which is a big downer. I’m not thinking about canceling because I have loved the bags in the past, so hopefully next month they step it up and send out a much better bag! :] High hopes!

all love & smiles :]

ipsy Glambag February 2013 Review

As I have shown thus far, I have an obsession with subscription boxes. So far, I have reviewed one of my Glossybox and Birch Boxes. Glambag is/was essentially the same thing. They went through some changes a couple months ago and now go by the name of “ipsy... beauty by you”. For $10/month, they send you a different kind of bag (always good for a travel sized make up pouch), with various trial sized and sometimes full sized products. They are pretty awesome, each month I usually feel like I get my money’s worth, especially because I’m always looking for smaller make up bags for weekends trips and things like that.

• February ipsy bag •

a look at what’s inside…

Feb 2013 ipsy bag

I personally think that the cards that come packed with the ipsy glambags are basically useless. Yeah, they have coupon codes on there, but I don’t really buy all the stuff (especially from their website) so it’s kind of pointless and I end up having to go online and look up what all the items are about anyway. I really wish they explained this better on the card instead of just stating the brand of a random product. Also, they don’t include the retail price of the product, which also kinda sucks.

Also, just to note, they call this month “Get Red Carpet Ready”.

Item #1: POP: Smokey Lash Kapow Mascara (0.17 oz)

(I got this in #1, “Smokey Black”)

IMG_0294

Item #2: Mica Beauty cosmetics: gel eyeliner

IMG_0291

Item #3: Lash Card: Mascara Sheilds (ipsy deluxe sample)

IMG_0288

IMG_0289

I thought these looked pretty unique, although if/when I’m really trying harding enough, I don’t think it’s that difficult to keep yourself clean while applying mascara. And when I’m in a big rush and DO actually get messy, I don’t think that in my haste I’ll be thinking to grab one of these things… but maybe they actually WILL work… time will only tell.

Item #4: Pixi: Flawless & Poreless (0.5 oz)

IMG_0290

Item #5 Coastal Scents: Shadow Pallet Sample

(I received the following colors: Candlelight, Gunmetal, Incognito, & Ashen)

IMG_0292

All in all, this glambag was not too bad. I have gotten a few other samples from Coastal Scents, but I always seem to loven them, so no complaints there. I am excited to use the primer, because I hate when my make-up doesn’t stay in place all day. To be COMPLETELY honest though, this is probably the least of my favorite bags that I get monthly. Sometimes they repeat products and just make me angry because of the random stuff they pick for me. I never get really mad and cancel though, because I’m just always curious to see what I will be getting next!

all love & smiles :]
