cost
$49.95 w/ free shipping. {I subscribed to Escape Monthly before they even released their first box- they have had Napa & Oregon & Hawaii as the first three destinations- so I got a discounted rate ($39.95) & was grandfathered in for the remainder of my membership with them}

the goods
Every month includes a great “travel” pamphlet that lists out all the items in the box, a little information about the destination, and even a sneak preview into the following month’s destination so you can get excited about your next Escape! So far the total value of the boxes have always been much, MUCH higher than what I paid for the box itself, and all the luxury items include bath and body, snacks, drinks, a travel guide book of the destination, and other random goodies. There are always plenty of items, so I never feel like there’s been a bad month. LOVE this subscription!
…this month’s Escape is to…

Love With Food October 2013 Review

IMG_3586

The BoxLove With Food is one of my favorite snack subscriptions. It is affordable and always jam packed with new, organic, all-natural snacks. Also, for every box that is purchased, they donate a meal to a hungry child.. how cool is that? That probably means it would be wrong of you NOT to order this box… {haha at least that’s what I tell myself}. “Say goodbye to boring grocery selections and start discovering your Love with Food experience!”

IMG_3587

IMG_3588 the goodsI love that every month they have a theme, this month being “Scary Delicious” for Halloween of course. They always send a card detailing each and every product included. This is always a nice touch! These boxes are always packed with tons of goodies, so it’s nice to have them listed all in one place. {You can see that one of my bags is opened… it did not come like this, I just ate them up so quickly I didn’t have a chance to photograph them beforehand…. wooops}

POPSUGAR Must Have Box October 2013 Review

IMG_3435

The Box

POPSUGAR Must Have Box. This is one of my favorite boxes that I subscribe to because of all the full-sized products and the range of categories the items fall into. It’s basically like opening a surprise gift to myself! “POPSUGAR’s monthly favorites delivered to your door. Hand selected items in beauty, fashion, home, fitness, and food. Full sized products and premium items.”

IMG_3436 cost

$35/month with free shipping!  The total value of these boxes is basically always over $100 so you definitely get your money’s worth! {UPDATE: The price of the boxes beginning in November will be $39.95. They are encouraging their active members to sign up for a 3, 6, or 12 month plan in order to lock in the $35 price for as long as they can. You can do this by signing up by November 4th}

IMG_3438the goods

The box is always bursting full with amazing full size products, and I honestly love their little fold out notecards on why they picked each product and how it can be put to good use. They do a great job of explaining the items in this packet. The box also comes pretty nicely wrapped with the pink tissue paper and sticker everytime : )

IMG_3437 Whats inside

1 • The Can’t Cook Cook Book: Recipes for the Absolutely Terrified!
$27.99
This book is absolutely AMAZING! It came at such a perfect time for me when I’m doing some major cleaning and organizing in my house, I’m finally ready to take on some good cooking! I have my kitchen (pretty much) organizing and I’m ready! This book has beautiful step by step photos on every page, alongside the recipes and all the wonderful tips. The night I opened this box, I couldn’t put this book down. It’s just so good and wonderful to read with all the pictures and step by steps! Check out this book and her others here.
IMG_3441 IMG_3442

2 • NYX Cosmetics Liquid Liner & Smokey Shadow Pallet
$6.00 + $7.00
Since I already unsubscribed (for now) to all my beauty subscriptions because I have so many little products and samples of every kind of piece of make-up I can imagine, I wasn’t TOO excited to receive even more make-up in this box. Unless it’s a really awesome brand or something that I’ve been excited about, I really don’t need anymore liquid liner (I basically use the same exact eyeliner every single day for the past 5 years), but this eyeshadow pallet does look pretty nice and I didn’t have most of the colors on the pallet. It helps create a great dramatic (or not too dramatic) smokey eye look. Check out NYX cosmetics here.

IMG_3443 IMG_3448

3 • Gorjana Charity Bali Bead Bracelet
$45.00
This is a very delicate, adorable pink bracelet. 100% of the proceeds from each bracelet went to a charity, Breast Cancer Connections. I LOVE this bracelet and was SO EXCITED to wear it along side my usual 3 silver bracelets I wear daily… However, this bracelet is TINY. I know my wrists aren’t that big at all, and this barely fits around it, plus it’s hard (at least it was for me) to try and close this bracelet on your own wrist. I honestly really do still love this bracelet though. Check out the bracelet here.

IMG_3439

4 • Julep for Popsugar Duo Nail Polish
$28.00
I received “Freedom”, a polymer top coat, and #3108, “Coco” (it also says “It Girl” it smaller letters so I’m not sure if that’s maybe the collection it is in or completely vice versa). I am so happy I got these colors; ready to paint my nails with it any minute! : ) Check out the Julep site here.

IMG_3440

5 • Jane Tran Bobby Pins
$12.00
These aren’t my favorite item in the box, but they are certainly cute and I go through my fair share of bobby pins throughout the year! These are really cute for a messy do too. Check out other cute bobby pins like these here.

IMG_3447

6 • The Wet Brush
$14.00
This is one of my favorites in the box – or even ever! This is why I love subscription boxes… things that you never knew you would love (or in this case, actually really really need)! My hair tangles SO EASY it is so gross, and now with this I don’t mind when I quickly have to get ready when I get out of the shower when I’m running late for work. My hair is no longer a problem! This brush is amazing and perfect for a girl with long, easily tangled hair like me. Click here to check out the wet brush.

IMG_3446

7 • The Crispery Halloween Crispycake
$3.95
This was SO. DAMN. GOOD. nom nom nom!! Me and the bf both thought this delicious sweet rice cake was absolutely perfect. It was covered in decadent marshmallow and was so soft and chewy with just the right amount of slight crunch. I am honestly probably going to order more of these sometime very soon. I’m looking at some of the other adorable holiday cakes that they make and I am wanting to try this fabulous Christmas one! It’s full of peppermint and that amazing marshmallow! Check out the Halloween crispycake here.
IMG_3445
8 • Stich Fix
$20 off my purchase + a waived styling fee
I have been reading GREAT things about Stich Fix! It’s “a personal styling service to get handpicked fashion goodies delivered right to your door”. You basically complete a profile about your style, you then pick a date and they send you 5 clothing & accessory items that are hand-picked just for you. You get 3 days to decide if you want to keep (and buy) the item(s) that you got. If you keep anything, the $20 styling fee is automatically reduced off of one of the items, therefore, I’m pretty sure everyone’s styling fees are waived (well, just as long as they keep anything, and with the $20 they are giving me, I am bound to want to purchase something!)

Taste Trunk Gourmet October 2013 Review

IMG_3393 The BoxTaste Trunk is a delicious box that I just started subscribing to last month and it is quickly becoming one of my favorites!! I chose to subscribe to the Gourmet box, but they also have boxes for Health, Sweet, or BBQ. The Gourmet box “Features new items from the best gourmet lifestyle brands. Each trunk includes 5-10 products, discount coupons, backgrounds on the companies, and amazing new recipe ideas.” It is basically awesome delicious in your mouth every month.

IMG_3394
costTaste  Trunk costs $29 dollars a month, and you can cancel OR switch to any other box theme at any time : )

IMG_3395

the goodsThe Taste Trunk comes adorably wrapped in beautiful wrapping, however I took this picture the day after I opened it, so it didn’t look anything like my rendition, trust me. haha. Also, it comes with cards with recipes and coupons for the items inside. The nice little poem is a very cute touch too.

IMG_3397

Whats inside

1 • Shemp’s Old Fashioned Brand Whiskey Pepper Steak Sauce
$5.50/ 10 oz. bottle
This steak sauce is SOOOOOOO delicious! I am so excited about it! I love trying new hot sauces or any sauces in general from brands you just don’t see every day. Definitely a perfect 10 in the box for me! Check out the sauce here.
IMG_3398
2 • Southern Culture Shortstacks Pancakes & Waffle Mix – Bourbon Salter Pecan
$7.99/ 10 oz. container/ Serves 4
I was ecstatic to receive this mix in my box this month because I got a super cute waffle maker in my Fancy Food box the other month and these are going to be a delicious flavor to try! Check out the waffle mix here.
IMG_3400
3 • Bountiful Pantry – Pumpkin Chowder
$8.50/ 9.8 oz/ 8 servings
I am SOOOO excited to try this soup!! I’ve certainly been in the “fall” mood, and anything pumpkin-related gets me excited!! Also, while I was doing some research on the chowder mix, I came across this great pumpkin picture from their website with the soup. Check out their website here.
IMG_3399 Screen Shot 2013-10-10 at 8.28.25 PM
4 • Wooden Table Baking Co. Traditional Alfajores
$4.89/ 3 pack/ 6 oz.
This is a “hand crafted vanilla cookie filled with dulce de leche and rolled in grated coconut.” The card they included on the company was a great letter from the owner of the company that made me think it was a great, family business, who was really dedicated to the treats they were making. Check out their products here.

IMG_3402
5 • Chateau White Garlic Marinade
$5.00/ 14 oz.
This. Sauce. Is. So. So. So. Frickin. Amazingly. Garlicky. Deliciously. PERFECT. We love it!!! It’s marinade but I can use it as a salad dressing. It is so perfect tasting. To me, it tastes like caesar crossed with italian plus more garlic and veggies… SO GOOD. Check out the website here.

Birchbox May 2013 Review

IMG_1964

This month’s Birchbox wasn’t my favorite, but only because I liked the items, but it was definitely not worth my $10. Instead of beauty products, this month I got 3 random products ranging from tooth paste to a Pilot pen! I’m not complaining about that because I do love random lifestyle products, but it’s kind of unfair for the value of the box this month.

IMG_1965

Birchbox is a monthly beauty subscription service that costs $10/month. They send out 4-6 deluxe sized beauty & lifestyle samples each month. Each month usually has a theme, and they include a card explaining the theme and also listing the products and pricing.

IMG_1966

May’s theme is “Beauty Diaries”.

IMG_1967

Now let’s get to the {random} goodies inside!!

1 • Amika
Obliphica Nourishing Mask, 0.67 oz {Full size: $40.00}
I sampled some Amika shampoo & conditioner before and absolutely loved it, so I’m sure this nourishing mask will be great! I love getting hair products for my damaged hair. Always put to great use!! Check out the product here.

IMG_1970

2 • COOLA
Classic Face SPF 30 Cucumber Moisturizer for Face, .23 oz {Full size: $32.00}
I WOULD have liked this product if it wasn’t soooo tiny. Maybe if this little tube was actually FILLED it would have been okay, but theres barely anything inside of it. It’s enough for maybe one use on the face. Tiny. Plus, it’s sunscreen. That’s not really something I get too excited about, especially compared to cool beauty products I could have gotten. Check out the product here.

IMG_1968

3 • Isaac Mizrahi
FABULOUS Isaac Mizrahi Eau de Parfum, .05 oz {Full size: $69.00}
This smells SOOOOOO GOOD. I used to hate perfume samples because they were so tiny and I didn’t appreciate them enough compared to the other beauty products… but I’m starting to love them now! I love that they ARE tiny and I can carry them around in my purse for night’s out or heading out for an interview… very convenient and I love trying out all the new fun scents that I wouldn’t normally purchase! This scent is so light and cheery, completely perfect for summertime! Check out the perfume here.

IMG_1973

4 • Marvis
Classic Mint Toothpaste, .5 oz {Full size: $10.50}
I don’t know what to really say about this… I mean, it’s toothpaste. Something I use everyday, so of course it won’t go wasted. I do love the packaging and how it looks like something from an old antique store or something. Super cute. Check out the product here.

IMG_1971

5 • Sumita
Color Contrast Eyeliner, .7 g {Full size: $11.00}
This is a small sample of an eyeliner (I guess I’m just used to more full sized eye liner items). It doesn’t have a color name/number but I clearly got a Black pencil. This is perfect for me because I wear black eyeliner almost everyday and can never have enough! It’s very smooth and easy to apply. Check out the product here.

IMG_1974

6 • BIRCHBOX FINDS: Acroball by Pilot Pen (Pink)
Full size! $6.24/ pack of 4
I thought it was kind of weird to get a pen inside of my Birchbox… but I am an office supply LOVER so this was super awesome for me! It’s super smooth and writes pink! Love it! Check it out here.

IMG_1975

This was quite a confusing Birchbox as many of the items weren’t exactly beauty related, however I did it enjoy it and I’m pretty sure all the items will go to great use!

IMG_1978

I can only hope that Birchbox will start getting better, the way they used to be… the past couple of months just haven’t been too great!
